My 13YO son has been having lessons on non-competitive exercise at school from a Govt. organisation- running, jumping, gym- all good stuff.

However, one ‘weird’ guy came in & took them out on a run last month. Half way round, he stopped encouraging the backmarkers, came up from behind each runner screaming “Eat s**t & die, LOSER!!”, then ran out triumphantly in the ‘lead’, running further & further out into the distance. He didn’t return to the school & hasn’t been seen since…

The real reason they added it was they had some extra money in the budget and were getting depressed watching the kids use imaginary jump ropes everyday.

I love this sport, it's only right that it be introduced as a school sport as not only does it keep kids fit but it involves team work. I bought a book recently called 'Double Dutch: A Celebration of Jump Rope, Rhyme and Sisterhood' that is worth reading. As for it becomming an Olympic sport, I don't agree with that but if it is to replace an existing Olympic sport then please let it replace the synchonrised swimming.

Baseball? Basketball? Track? Is it too hard to ask kids to run and throw a ball during gym class? We need to lure them into physical activity with gimmick 'sports' like jump rope and frisbee?

Not everyone likes the same things dude. They should be able to have fun. And I mean i dont know about you but I dont like talking to people when their not happy. Fun = Happy

In no way is jump rope a gimmick sport. It is an internationally recognized sport that will be in the olympics one day. It takes a tremendous amount of athletic ability and practice to become one of the top jumpers in the sport. If you don't believe me, go check out some of my videos to see what is possible.
