I'm in favour of greater co-operation between European nations. Clearly, the EU in its current form is a bloated bureaucracy and has to become more accountable, but the worst thing to do would be to disengage completely and play no role in effecting change, to bury our heads in the sand and pretend the rest of the world doesn't exist.
@fieldingmellish44 yes but this treaty removes any power to change the eu from within - it will be a disaster for the european union - i tell you something... once british and irish people realise what has happened they will not accept it... if you love europe and want a strong & united europe to stand up to usa/china/india then you must vote NO to lisbon treaty - cos it means death for the union, this is disaster for europe! i cant believe this is happening, how dare they do this to all of us!?
Hmm, I'm not convinced... This whole EU thing gets more and more like star wars like by the day! Where's my Death Star-Flag!? Tony Blair is definitely a great candidate for emperor/dictator! Can't wait for the EU to stop being weak and pathetic and take over the whole universe! :)
Ireland vote Yes. Europe needs to Unite. Europe has seen enough Wars. We need One Europe! We need a Peaceful future With One European President. The Europe of today is weak and pathetic. We need Change. Vote YES YES YES.
Peace is among the things guaranteed not to happen under Lisbon. You're like the Italians in1921 & Germans in1933. They also voted for peace, jobs, wealth and a strong'unified' government. Not for democracy or parliamentary policy&legislation. ...You probably don't even understand all this. Just believe the EUmarketeers and propaganda parrots.Live life with blinkers on and hope the big man grants you a perk or 2, before you and your children find themselves in jackboots on the frontline.
Actually the Lisbon Treaty will increase our Democracy. But a Conspiracy theory Crackpot like yourself probably will never acknowledge this. Sad Really that there are people who could be against a Europe that is no longer a lapdog of the US. Europe has brought wealth to so many Nations in the EU that comparing the EU to Mussolini or Hitler is a total joke. Your arrogance shows you don`t know jack shit about how the EU operates. Stop living in fantasy land.
@EUROSUN1 how can it increase democracy when it is undemocractic by its nature? come on mate - i'm all for european union and an economic challenge to the united states - but we don't all have to give up our soveignty and control of law to achieve this - careful mate - their fooling us into giving away our liberty
@EUROSUN1 Ireland "vote yes" (the proper phrasing is "voted yes) at the second run, having first voted "no" and then being told by the unelected, unaccountable, undemocratic Commission that they had to vote again. That, and after putting 440m Euros of taxpayers' into the "no" campaign. How many wars has the EU prevented, exactly? That is one of the weakest, most stagnant, most preposterous arguments for European federalism.
NO SIDE: Shinners, Ganley, Socialists, Coir, Eirigi, UKIP, Le Pen, BNP.
YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
they are trying to steal our sovereignty,im irish and i will vote no for a second time, fight for a vote in your country or you will become a province and not a nation
1.Big business looking for cheap labour like Dell who left Ireland for Poland and Nokia who left Germany for Rumania.
2.The "elite" and overpaid politicians and burocrats in Brussels, most members of the EU Playmobil "parliament" in Strasbourg & Brussels.
NO side : France,The Netherlands,Ireland who have already voted NO + Austria,Germany and UK whom would all vote NO if "allowed" by the un-elected commission of millionares.
Do the maths and vote YES to democracy,NO to Lisbon 2.
Did you know that the EU already has it's own para-military ? Google their website :
EUROPEAN GENDARMERIE FORCE they are "first and foremost at the disposal of the EU". Remember, after Lisbon the EU becomes a state and we all become it's citizens.Tony Blair will be our President and all our constitutions overuled by the EU's own supreme court !
Only Ireland can block this MADNESS by voting NO again...for our children's sakes !
Greetings from (still) democratic,sovereign Germany.
Don't get mad get even! Sack the old sleazy politicians. Vote BNP - the party they hate. Give £3 by texting the word "donate" to 60777 , To stop mass immigration and to get our country back.
This revelation is shocking! I usually consider myself pro Europe for the sake of lasting peace but if it means making institutions less democratic I will fight it. We need more info on this stuff. The Brussell lot seem sinister to me now.
I don't know why the entire left wing of the Labour party, whats left of it, don't just start there own party. Certainly George Galloway, Glenda Jackson, John McDonnell, Peter Kilfoyle, Linda Riordan, Mike Wood, Bob Wareing, Michael Clapham, Ann Cryer, Diane Abbott, Gerald Kaufman, Frank Dobson and Ken Livingstone are names that spring to mind. These people should be joing forces and leave the neo liberal consensus of New Labour to its own devices; ie, making the party unelectable.
Yet galloway has moved to the right now which brought about the split in respect. whereas livingstone sold out his socialism thus getting back into the labour party.
Galloway through either missing debates about homophobia, or even more surprising voting with hard line Tories. What has gotten be though is his dedication to electoralism above everything else.
