well you can get a used C5 corvette for 22k and then take it to lingenfelter get the 427 TT package for 42k then get the boost controler and upgraded turbos 4-8k and the vette will be makeing over 1000 whp and 1000 ft/lbs of torque. witch is good cause it's aound 68-72k witch is around the price of the new C6 Z06

it deppends on the race if it is a drag witch it almost always is on the street then the car that is faster on the straight away is the better car see mustangs camaros ect. were built to drag race. and vette's are good on straight aways and can handle. i am more of a lemans fan and good old 1/4 mile drag racing and standing mile. i don't pay much attention to drifting but last i herd a viper was doing good.
Like I said. A real person who knows a car must know the power and how much it can handle. That is what makes a you have the advantage over the opponets car. This involves drift and drift requires a lot of skills in handling and tuneups in power, not just power itself.
Seriously, you know what is even more funny. I would laugh when a supercar like the vette gets smoked by a civic hatchback and there are known hatches out there that will take on a vette.
Superchargers doesn't make a difference. I seen a Chevy colbolt with a supercharger and makes a 1/4 in late 14 secs. A 1999 BMW 328i, the first models of the E46 body styles lowest versions, can outrun a cobolt at stock. Late 13s. So when you think about it, the superchargers doesn't change much.
Plus, the camaro doesn't have the refined torque it requires to go against a supra. Torque is good for a great start. Camaros have too large of cylinders and pistons to deliver all that torque.
i just saw a 1988 camaro kill a supra in a drag race and the supra was more expensive. and befor you say it i will agree with you the supra would have killed the camaro if turns were envolved but the thing about the U.S. is the majority of the citys are on a grid pattern meaning you almost never have a race with turns.
Honestly, it takes more skills in turns than to go in a straightaway. Seeing a car going the fastest in a straightaway is fun, but seeing the skills of driver taking the turns the fastest is even better and "involves," get your spelling right, more skills.

Not neccesarly. You don't need to put in 40k to make it faster!! I have an uncle who owns even an older model of a supra and he put in less than 15k to make it fast. See, he goes from 0 to 60 in 8.1 secs!!!

stock a c5 vette can do 4.8 sec 0-60. hell c4's that you can get for under 15k can do 0-60 in the 5's

Not just imports. Don't forget about Germany. Germany have worries for Japan but they don't really worry about the U.S. Plus, Jeremy has a job, a great job test driving cars and you say he is a low person. Would kill to have that job.

import does not just mean japan / germany is an import to the U.S too. why did the Z06 beat out the 911 turbo for 40k less. the Z06 beat it's track times top speed acceleration and even mpg. and the Z06 is not even forced induction. I would like to have jeremy's job too but he or anyone else who has to rip on another person's country is low.

all i have to say is $1,400,000 and there is nothing more you can do to it. it does 253mph but the callaway sledgehammer corvette did 255 and that was in 1988 and was less than 1/3 the price the new Halltech corvette claims 275mph. and the hennessy viper does 255 mph

halltech, lingenfelter, and hennessy are all tuners. the callaway sledge hammer corvette is crazy though 255mph in 1988 the ferrari f-40 was in 2nd for fastest street legal cars at that time and it did 201mph

the most a skyline was ever proven to get was 1400whp. and that was a dyno queen it never ran any record 1/4 mile or topspeed records. there are vette's with 2000+whp. i said 1500+whp cause that is the record vette witch did the 1/4 mile in 7.5sec and was still full weight and street legal. the fastest skyline did the 1/4 mile in 7.95sec and it was not street legal or full weight.

They are street legal in japan. Only reason they don't have these cars in the U.S. is because not a lot of people will buy it...and that is not just the only reason. The americans are afraid that they will out run cops. Superior Handling and speed is tops at this car.

it is street legal in the u.s what i mean when i say it is not street legal is the modifyd 1 that got 7.95sec. in the 1/4 mile had to use parts that are not legal for street use. the vette did not need to use those non street legal parts to hit 7.5sec in the 1/4 mile

Yea but remember. It is still cheaper to modify than to buy it already fast. If it is already fast then you will have big hole in your wallet for future modifications. Still cheaper to modify and yea there is cars modified that could be faster than a modified vette rolling around but the authorities may not know about it.

Seriously, not a lot of vette can afford to upgrade after the amount of money to modify. As you can see a lot of the videos you see in youtube, modified imports smokes a lot of stock vettes. Its about how you spend your money and ofcourse you do not know if a modified import, street legal could still take a modified vette.

well you can get a used C5 corvette for 22k and then take it to lingenfelter get the 427 TT package for 42k then get the boost controler and upgraded turbos 4-8k and the vette will be makeing over 1000 whp and 1000 ft/lbs of torque. witch is good cause it's aound 68-72k witch is around the price of the new C6 Z06

That is still a load of money you have to put down. You still not getting the point. Import tuners don't have to spend a lot to to modify and even if they do their own customizing it will still cost way less than to do it to a vette.

ya but to get that type of preformance out of an import it ends up costing over 70k. yes you can buy a camaro for under 6k. and dump 5-15k into it and have a fast car for cheap.

to compeat with a lingenfelter 427tt it does that car does the 1/4 mile in 8.95sec. and is full weight. the fastest full weight street legal supra is ryan woon's and it did 8.8sec. and his car was over 70k. it was around the price of paul major's vette witch is fullweight and does the 1/4 mile in 7.54 sec.

Then explain to me why a lot of young guys still choose imports to tune. That just proved that imports can cheaply be moddexd and still have enough power to beat any car out there. Having the most horse doesn't matter, it is the how the car is tuned for the right situation.

the young guys here have seen fast and the ferious one to many times. 90% of them only have a fart pipe and a big ass wing and talk like there cars can kill vettes and vipers and then when they do race a vette they get killed and then they get pissed off it's funny you think they would know the out come before the race. and they still have not touched paul major's vette.

You know this is getting old. The only reason the US is upping their cars is they are only tired to seeing their cars suck so much. Japan has hold their reputation very well. Like I said, cars who are fast a straight aways cannot take on a car who can take the turns. For example, take drifting lessons!! This is getting too old.

it deppends on the race if it is a drag witch it almost always is on the street then the car that is faster on the straight away is the better car see mustangs camaros ect. were built to drag race. and vette's are good on straight aways and can handle. i am more of a lemans fan and good old 1/4 mile drag racing and standing mile. i don't pay much attention to drifting but last i herd a viper was doing good.

Like I said. A real person who knows a car must know the power and how much it can handle. That is what makes a you have the advantage over the opponets car. This involves drift and drift requires a lot of skills in handling and tuneups in power, not just power itself.

Superchargers doesn't make a difference. I seen a Chevy colbolt with a supercharger and makes a 1/4 in late 14 secs. A 1999 BMW 328i, the first models of the E46 body styles lowest versions, can outrun a cobolt at stock. Late 13s. So when you think about it, the superchargers doesn't change much.

i have seen vette's improve there 1/4mile time by over 2 sec. with superchargers they work well with the right set up.

Plus, the camaro doesn't have the refined torque it requires to go against a supra. Torque is good for a great start. Camaros have too large of cylinders and pistons to deliver all that torque.

i just saw a 1988 camaro kill a supra in a drag race and the supra was more expensive. and befor you say it i will agree with you the supra would have killed the camaro if turns were envolved but the thing about the U.S. is the majority of the citys are on a grid pattern meaning you almost never have a race with turns.

Honestly, it takes more skills in turns than to go in a straightaway. Seeing a car going the fastest in a straightaway is fun, but seeing the skills of driver taking the turns the fastest is even better and "involves," get your spelling right, more skills.

One reason a lot of young guys pick imports to modify is that they are cheap and easy to modify for great speed and power. Supras are a good example unlike all you rich snobs out there. Use your money to help somebody else less fortunate, get a life doing something good other than spoiling yourself. We manage to pull out some good runs for cheap cars and modds to take on any supercars.

yes an import will be faster for the price but only to an extent if a vette and an import are modifyed to the max the vette will be faster cause the vette has more potential that is what you pay for

europe's gas prices are higher than our's. my 99 vette can get 27 mpg highway that is not that bad because honda accoard get's 28 mpg highway and that is an eco car.
