Naw I have taught a lot of new shooters and if they listen they can do well easily enough there first try. Most the problems I had were trying to teach guys, other than being safe the guys would not listen to anything else regarding accuracy. There girls however would listen and would out shoot the guy. The guy would just pull the trigger faster and have messed up shot groups.

9mm is not as good as the 5.56/.223 UNLESS, you won't be shooting at ranges over 100 yards. You can hit point targets out to 500 yards with the 5.56 because it has a velocity of over 3,100 FPS, the 9mm is just over 1,000 FPS and is a heavier round, so it has more drop/less power. The 9mm are a LOT cheaper to shoot. I can get 50 rounds of 9mm for the same price 20 rounds of .223 I have a 9mm and .223 AR, and I'd pick the one appropriate to the environment I needed it in...
