Hi. Aprox by the year 2020 a laptop will reach the human brain potential for processing data which means that there is a huge market waiting for hundreds of billions dollars to be sold or invested in humanoid robots and intelligent systems. It is the beginning of the bigger industry in human history. Search on Google luisbeck007 you will find the most complete humanoid robot list in the World, good information and interesting issues.
It would be nice to show how this differs from a Roomba robot vacuum from iRobot that costs only about $200. I'm sure it must do more that we see here...
Designed for search and rescue missions - which, let's face it, are only ever one loose word away from "search and destroy" - the SCRATCHbot uses its whiskers to detect disaster survivors in inhospitable or dangerous areas. The Bristol Robotics Laboratory developed the rat-inspired people searcher over the past 6 years and now hopes to find interest for it in underground and underwater projects where vision may be impaired.
Jerky video is jerky.

How could whiskers be applied in home robots? Would the whiskers reduce robots getting stuck under furniture?

That thing is so cute ^^
I would want to see it navigate a real maze, so that one could see if it's path finding algorithms using the whiskers works for real.
Love the video!
