The disappearing bodies. Is it just a hardware limitation? Or is the whole of MGS2 virtual? A game in a game? It would explain everything, if the game you're playing was a game in the context of the game. Everything the characters say has 2 or 3 meanings, the layers!

In the VR missions you beam in and materialise, but after that the environments are completely indistinguishable from the actual game. The script also makes many hints to the unreality of it all.
