nothing for real fight..no kyusho,no tuite..looks like bunkai for brown belt..that bunkai can make somone with green belt..wery poor like for black belt..
only, I didnt see any hips rotation (e.g. when you block, your hips are still 'closed', instead 'open')... although, this may be coz of style (Im training Fudokan karate)...
@whezzy1965, that "hum hum" as you call it is called KIME and it represents the air from your lungs when you contract your muscles while kicking/punching/blocking :P
well, technically these gyus are very skillfull karatekas. bunkai like this are fun to train, but its has very little to do with realistic self defense. in order to perform , uke has to be very co-operative, which the opponent normally is not. those throws and jumps look ridicilous for any experienced martail artist, but as such are fun to watch. Osu !
@ccthedragon the kata can only teach the principles of the self defence, the martial artist must bend those principles in order to be effective in a self defence situation, kata is very important
nd what's with ll the barking, hum hum, poor timing makes this happen, KARATE IS SILENT UNLESS KIA.......burn those blacks belts boys go back to white belt, re visit what you think you know
wrong... ninjitsu is silent maybe, not Karate, the sudden contracting of the whole body including abs, legs, fingers etc leads to a sudden exhale of air which is as you describe "barking", if you dont your not tensing quickly enough.
Look at 11 seconds, the leader is not even settled in his stance as he drags his lazy foot back from back stance, supposed to pull the front foot back on the toes, this shows good balance and skill does it not???
Well, dependent the type of tournament you perform in, realism is more or less an issue. This was Golden League - Austrian Open, which -at the time- demanded a degree of 'show elements' to be integrated. This bunkai here is heavily compressed, as well... And, honestly, I'm getting tired of guys criticising the way I do my kime, just because they are used to do it differently. What could be more insignificant than the volume of sound of my breath? If i do techniques incorrectly, criticise them!
i think they did it too fast. Thats why they werent synchronized sometimes. Im not in WKF, im diong traditional karate so i dont know if this speed is normal. But on the SKIF european championship i did Kanku Sho in the finals and my kata was much slower.(Not the mowements, the rhytm) I won 3. prize:)!
Kanku Sho is a very hard kata for team, much harder than Gojushiho Dai which is a great favourite. But its still easyer than Unsu:)
That was verynsharp guys well done, although one of the karate-ka's did not sit into any of this stancea which was a bt of a let down. The chap in the middle made them look ten times better.
its good but the thingi don't get is "why call it KANKU-SHO and not do the KANKU part", y'know with the looking up at the sky before you start? if ur wondering "kanku" means "look at the sky" in japanese.
Nice! Great timing and solidity in all of yours' techniques!

some of these bunkais are slightly unrealistic i do agree, but theres nothing to set bunkai in stone, many moves have many meanings

well, that's competition, not real life...
anyway, kata itself usually is not realistic at all.

What's with the funny little muttering noises made after each technique?!? In Japan, that would be "minus point" at each time!!!

well, then it is obvious this cannot be in japan, right ;)

Kanku dai has it. anyway if it was repeated in kankusho it would become too repetitive and getting back into the morote-uke would be difficult
