hahaha, at the goth club i frequent (more like goth night at a normal club) they close shop by singing hava nagila, a capella (leading the entire club with them), and we all dance to it! followed by a mass exodus, lol, if they pulled n'sync on us.... well we would just figure out a creative way to dance to it, xD
Haha! In Australia they used to play "Baby One More Time" till everyone started dancing to it. But Bieber did the trick. Ran like rats on a sinking ship.
Mixed at all? Good mix? In my experience when they play songs they usually have a crappy mix that sounds something like this: "We're all PF PFFF li-PFF PFF PFFFT-ving in Americ PFFFT"
I've been doing the clubs for years. I think it's great dj's do this. It's like a palate cleanser before you leave for the night and a gentle reminder to "hey, it's okay if you don't take yourself too seriously".
lol, well I've been to a goth club that would randomly play songs like that too but the people always had fun with it and danced anyway. like the night "mambo #5" was played :D
LoL I identify with the gothic subculture, but I say there's no shame in having fun and dancing. Even if what you're having fun to is Nsynch instead of Bauhaus. Some night's I've just had too much caffine, put on some hyper J-pop and go for it.
Wow, I had hair back then. Good times. It's traditional for them to close us out with something like that, but anyone still there dances anyway. Then they flood the place with lights and herd us out.
Continue .... Are sterotypical of the subculture are numb skulls. I've been goth for almost nine years (I am eighteen now) and one of the type of I like is J-pop (Japanese pop) and I wear pink *gasp*
Hell, one time a dj played YMCA at like midnight and the only people complaining were the babybats and the 'gother than thou'. People who listen/dance only to things that are
One of the best Industrial-Gothic-Fetish nightclubs during the early 2000 years was a club call,"The Dungeon"(2001-04),in Hollywood Ca.5 minutes before 2 am and the bright lights turn on,the very last song would be a '70's Disco(& patrons would still dance to it just after a Wumpscut song).
In Hamburg/Germany, to clear out Goth clubs they usually play the title song of a childrens' tv program ("Here comes the mouse") or "Schlager" which is some especially awful kind of pop music, while turning up the lights brightly. It always works (and hurts! >_<)
if i was on one of the clubs i go to here and they started playing something like that.... i think.... ugh fuck it.... i would saty a bit to see wtf xD
@apbrit2009 IDK, I'm a goth, but I grew up in the 90s, so this music has a dear place in my heart. Unlike the music these days which is simply intolerable.
@DEATHBYFLYINGCDS oOh dear allow me to rephrase, I grew up in the 90s so nsync and the backstreet boys have a dear place in my heart, doesn't make me less of a goth, I still love gothic rock, siouxsie, bauhaus, and all of that good stuff.
Yeah, strangely enough for us Goths, we are well versed in the pop culture that we so strongly disdain! I guess we have to know what we hate before we hate it. :)
This is the Castle in Ybor city in Tampa, Fl. They play a mixture of Goth, EMB, Industrial, and just whatever the DJ feels like playing. There are also two rooms available.
Thanks for the response, if I ever go to Tampa, FL (possibly to see an NJ Devils game there!) i'll go to this club. :)
I like the design (at least from the angle of the camera), because it seems wide open and it includes quite comfortable looking couches and seats, possible pool tables, and (if I am not mistaken) the bar is somewhat isolated from the dance floor by the groups of couches, chairs, and tables (which would lower the people dancing with their drinks). I hope I can make the trip.
Also to mention the design of the place itself, it feels to be made for Goths, (mentioning the wall art and wall facing lights, castle style walls/doors, and what appears to be vases under the wall light [if it isn't wall art]) as opposed to other clubs where a promoter would just find a place and if the night lasts long enough, then the owner of the club may make some design choices to appeal to the patrons of the Goth night (like Downtime in Manhattan that transformed for Albion-Batcave ).
Interesting concept, but hardly works when many Goths are known to not take themselves uberseriously. I am curious of what club this is, it looks like a nice floor design for one. (though still I am paranoid of the 'glow stick on a rope' usually indicating that Goth music isn't playing there but industrial or EBM, or hopefully the guy is just lost!) Please Rabidsmiley, please tell me where in the world this event is held and what night and time it's held on. Thanks.
What Philadelphia goth club night does is turn all the lights on and stop the music
