Ann Richards was an amazing woman, and an incredible governor. She is gone, but will never be forgotten. I'm so glad to have the reminders posted here of her powerful speaking style and charisma.
Anne your Deeply missed by all of us all over this nation you were our laughter to our Party and we miss your speeches and how you made small jokes in your speeches truely one of our nations greatest losses
Kiss my butt Jack ass! Ann Richards star will shine on brightly forever!! She was THE best thing to EVER come out of texas. You are probably one of those morons that helped give us "W" Bush the Wrecking Ball! The Worse most corrupt President in our history!!
Yes, I loved her. She gave the commencement address at my daughter's December 2005 UT/Austin graduation. It was the best graduation address I've ever heard. In addition to being totally proud of my daughter,I was beside myself getting to hear the great Ann Richards in person.
I say that just as we can recall a person we re-elect, we should be able to recall a vote. After all that's happened in the second Bush term, I can't think of a better response.

God, if she had run for President that year, I can't see anbody else even coming close to the nomination.

Too bad Emily's List can't see fit to post the whole speech. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have been there will never forget it.

Does anyone have her 1992 Opening Remarks at the Democratic Convention?

If only she had been elected president in 1992.

OH--yeah...Richards the best thing that ever came out of Texas...
She got horsewhipped by Bush for Governor--they just loved her then--didn't they..
(I guess the retort is: "well, everyone in Texas was stupid at the time..).
Race wasn't even close.
Also--just when you think she had some moxy behind all of those so-called spirited speeches, she had the Executioner fry the next person on death row.
YEAH--real PRINCIPLED!!!! NOT!!
She left for New York State ..no love lost

She had the gift of gab..but her well left of center views knocked her out before she could ever stand up.
She truly was no plus for Texas...lots of color..but little substance.
None of it worked...

Much of it worked, and much of it would have continued to work had Bush not seized the bank and spent it all on beer-policy.

She would have been a fine president.
And she could have given this speech yesterday.
Please get out and vote. Consider Obama/Biden.

We loved Ann in Texas. She was a true Texan - spoke her mind, no BS, just straight talk - and that's what a great leader does. RIP great lady.
