  • Georgia does not issue a "Concealed Firearm License", it's a GWL (Georgia Weapons License). With this license, open carry of a pistol is allowed. Why couldn't H.R. 822 simply state "carry", instead of "concealed carry"? It's not always physically comfortable to stuff a pistol inside your pants, or under a shirt, especially in hot weather. Open carry is a public exercise of your 2nd Amendment rights, and also a 1st Amendment exercise as well. And it helps to deter crime.

  • Reading many of the comments here, and from other videos on this, it shows that many people have not read the Bill, nor do they have any understanding of the Constitution. Seriously, read.

  • Not sure where people are getting all the "Gun owner List" and "place for the government to get your name" comes from. No where in the bill does it CREATE any new bureaucracy or control organization; the only thing it does is force all states to honor every other state's concealed carry licenses. It does not create a "National Concealed Carry License" or anything like that, licensing would still be entirely under the jurisdiction of the states as it is now.

  • I cannot see a problem with this... If you can legally carry in your state why not any other state? Do they think when you cross the state line you turn into a criminal?

  • Just gives the feds another source of gun ownership. When they come for them!

  • Ted Poe spewed out typical Blue Rhino Republican diatribe. Worthless. We have a right to carry, and the damn states have no right to regulate our Second Amendment rights. While the bill is obviously headed in the right direction, it by no means accomplishes the desired objective. We need legislation that dictates to the federal, state and local governments that they have no right to set conditions of ownership. Total crap. Time to lock 'n load.

  • another lame attempt for the man to keep tabs on us..

at least its a PROgun legislation and not an anti.. FOR NOW

  • @firecracker187 You seriously need to actually read the Bill.

  • forget the 2nd amendment?

  • If the Second Amendment is a an individual right, as the Supreme Court has ruled. Then why is it any different than the First Amendment Rights?

  • @controversyking Exactly my brother. The bad thing is that most criminals already carry a weapon and that's what the gun ban idiots seem to not understand. Where I live you can open carry, however, in the class they stress concealed carry so the sheep won't be calling 911 all the time, due to their ignorance of current carry laws. Our state officials and even the governor are 90 percent pro-gun, so I'm pretty happy with our current laws.

  • it would be a great law to pass....there needs to be consistency. unfortunately i don't think it would cover me unless i travel. i have a ccw both in NV & UT but live in CA. it would be great if it did cover me, i could thumb my nose at the asshats in sacramento!!

  • This bill should not b required. All people have a God given right to protect themselves or loved ones against violence, period. My handgun carry permit is the second amendment, or am I missing something that the second says? I also think Illinois should get a clue....

  • @sgtdarkness1 DAMN RIGHT!! I choose to follow these unconstitutional laws in order to avoid facing that large government funded gang of blue uniforms, but if I feel I live in a dangerous area, I will do what I need to protect myself, as long as I follow the REAL law.

  • @fbiryujin Said well my friend. I too must follow our laws, even if some make no sense at all. Our country is so burdened with mountains of paperwork that most of the citizens and even our own officials can't even find time to read. FUBAR..............lol.

  • Hell yeah! Gay marriage and guns for everyone. Serously I would like more of both.

  • Hey if the state accept a drivers licence from other state, then concealed carry permit should have know problem. Concidering that the process is much more in-depth.

  • God bless texas love u ted I vote for

  • I sincerely hope that Reciprocity passes. However, I do not hold out a lot of hope of that happening under this administration. We know Obama's views. We see the actions of his appointees (Sotomayor, Holder, etc.). This will be vetoed if it passes the House and Senate. I would rather see this process started after the 2012 election.

  • @neanderthor66 Read Article 2, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution.
