this episode is the episode in which Clark and Lex become mortal enemies. I think its Chloe thats going to die because Allison Mack who plays Chloe doesn't seem to be coming back for the eighth season but Lionel is still signed to be in season 8, my prediction is that chloe will use her special gift one more type to bring back lionel to life to find out what was so terrible that clark must know, but Chloe won't come back to life this time, also i believe that wen lionel comes back to life he will tell clark that lex pushed him out the window, and now like they said

Well Glover is still under contract, so it might not be Lionel who dies. He's still one of the more interesting characters on the show. I guess it'll depend on the direction the writers plan to go.

furthermore,in a spoiler i read, after saying that one of the characters will die for good, the person says "no cloning crap this time around" which could be a reference to lana dying since she was cloned last time, thus allowing her to survive...but then again the statement could have been said just to reassure that a character wont return...

I think it may be Lionel, because the title "Descent" symbolizes Lex`s descent to his dark side as this trailer shows him pushing him off the building (Kryptonsite has some awesome pictures, one of lex and an obviously dead body at the bottom of a building). So if its not Lionel I bet 100% Lex kills whoever it may be.

A main character dies in Descent and it's obvious the writers want us want us to think its Lionel. I think Chloe will use her powers one last time to save Lionel and she will die.

actually there is two reasons why I think Chloe will not die. 1) the facts are that the only thing happening to her in this episode will be that she is fired from the Daily Planet because Lex believes she has something of his and 2) in Veritas Chloe was showing alot of hate for Lionel because he kidnapped Clark in Traveller.
