  • it's very interesting to compare the way Americans view black and white and the way South Americans do. in America, we obsess over how many black people are successful, we mark every milestone, each black person that was the first to get that type of award, political office, or what the median income is etc. but in Spanish speaking countries they have almost no black politicians and often almost no black celebrities, even though their black population is much much higher.

  • afro latinos? afro hispanics? please learn what both mean because im spanish and im both and negros dont belong in my ehtnicities. and latinos are fom europe the ex roman empire that spoke latin now modern Spain, Italy, Portugual, and France where do you think america got its latin from?

  • @EricVZLeon No..your the one that needs to learn..negro/black is not even an ethnicty is a social term for race we use in this country..go get a dna test you might be suprised at what you find

  • @CerebralMadness i did not say black is a ethnicity I am just amused negros in latin america would want to be part of the Latino and or hispanic ethnic groups since they were the ones who brought them as slaves. seriously? self hate? and race is now a social term? and negroid and caucasoid genes can be specificaly located and its social LOL. I have taken a DNA since by ancestors are from all over europe non where black,,

  • She doesnt i meen

  • @CerebralMadness Great Video I was going to make a Video regarding to that so tru good vid I ran into a Dominican girl at a supermarket at one time and we were talking but she really dark skined she does consider her self black she said she is dominican but what i love is when u ask them is Dominican a color? they dont know what to say

  • The thing with us is that we don't get offended by the color of our skin so easily, just because we aren't on a tv show, we don't cause an uproar about it because unlike what others might think about how afro-hispanics are treated, we are accepted in the latino community so we don't see it as a big deal really. Also, I understand we are all of african descent, but honestly speaking we don't walk around saying we're black.

  • Now I agree on being perturbed by the documentary, but one thing I feel it didn't focus on at all is latinos who are 2nd, 3rd generation, or even indigenous American. A great deal of us do not have the "immigrant story", but are still seen as an immigrant people. Be grateful. You can be white, black, even asian, and still be seen as an American, however no matter our language ability, education or social strata, brown latinos are simply considered "immigrants", "mexicans", or worse, "illegal"

  • I wholeheartedly disagree with this video, primarily because one of the first families they showcased was half puerto-rican, half dominican. You should have noticed that the mother was afro-latina. Also, the latino community is VERY wide, and perhaps it's not possible to cover EVERY single minority. Why are you upset about afro-latinos when I heard nothing about Native-American Latinos, Indigenous Mexican population latinos, etc. The special focuses on the latino experience at large.

  • why do black american are forcing so hard in thing of color....we just said we all latinos...like i feel that african american always want to arguing about color... like in a dominican family of white youll fine black and and in black family youll fine white... is a big mix. and i so some black in cnn latinos in america the show was about latinos in general no black only or white

  • @CerebralMadness what is the name of the song at the beginning?

  • @JYoung3rd OMG I forgot lol I use to search and search for tht song by Gloria Estefan..I will find it again and let you know

  • Yes CEREBRAL! I feel its very insulting how people only want to recognize "white latinos and not Black Latinos.. Especially being that the African Culture has a big influence on the Latin culture!! From the dialects, foods, dances, etc... But alot of people know this but choose to IGNORE it, becuz they're embarrassed of it!

  • @404boricua Latin Culture predates the new world or America Latina. African Americans contributed to the Food, dance & culture of the Anglophones yet they are not Anglo saxon. African Americans speak English just like many Afro-Latinos speak Spanish. The similarities of Afro Americans & Afro Latinos are close. Afro Americans in music contributed greatly like Pop & Hip Hop & Rap & Reggae & Jazz & Blues like Afro Latinos in Reggaeton& Rapperos & Bachata & Merengue & Salsa, Bomba, just 2 name a few

  • @404boricua When you look at food the most popular Latin food is Mexican who has the one of the lowest Afro Latin population in Latin America behind Argentina who boast to be the whitest. When people talk about Latin food they don't usually mention Spanish, or Puertorican, Cuban, or Dominican they usually Mention Mexican. You will find Mexican food Restaurants even in Anglophone countries like England & Australia. Italian food is the only other Latin food that is world wide in popularity.

  • Latins Are From Europe Hispania Was A Part Of Spain And Portugal Spaniards Have Celtic Roots Galicia Asturias Cantabria The Vandals Was German Tribe That Settled In Espana The Visagoths German Tribe Settled In Espana Brittannia Hispania Lusitania Germania Rumania These Names Were Given By The Romans People From The American Continent Are Spanish-Speaking Americans America Is A Continent

  • Glad you chose to share your thoughts on this. I, unfortunately, missed parts of this series...but must say that I was not surprised by your observations as it happens often. This is exactly the reason why many Americans are thrown way left when they learn that there are just as diverse Latinos as there are Americans. And yes, I tell people all the time that there is a huge difference between ethnicity, race and citizenship. You hit the nail on the head with that one sis. Blessings!

  • The richer neighborhoods in the Carribean always seem to be "whiter". Not a coincidence.

  • Dear Sister watch "Habla 1 and 2 on HBO they show a greater diversity. People in those countries do speak out, however because they are often minorities with the exception of Cuba and the Dominican Republic, their voices are often drowned out. Puerto Rico has an important Black population but the vast majority there is only about 1/4 to 1/16th Black so they tend to look lighter and often these don't see themselves as Black because they don't follow the one drop rule.

  • If You Speaks English You Are Anglophile A Person That Speaks English If You Ara A United States Citizen If You Have African Roots You Are Anglophile Not Anglo You Speak The English Language

  • If You Are From A Country That Speaks Espanol You Are Hispanophone Hispanphile Hispanics From Espana Europa Que Viva El Espanol En Asia En Republica Filipinas En El Continente Africano En Sahara Occidental ( Western Sahara ) Guinea Ecuatorial En El Continente Americano En Continente Europeo La Madre Patria The Mother Land I Am From United Mexican States Commonly Known As Mexico

  • You Are Not AfrricanAmerican If You Were Born In The United States You Are United States Citizen With African Roots Spaniards Are What You Call "Whites" They Are Europeans Anglos From England I Am From Untied Mexican States Commonly Known As Mexico I Am An American I Have Native Blood America=Continent

  • You Mean Anglos Anglos From England Lusitanics From Portugal=Port Of Gauls=Celtic That Name Was Given By The Romans The Iberia "Edge" Penninsula Was Heavily Occupied By Celtic Culture Galicians Cantabrians Asturians Celtic People They Are Part Of The Kingdom Of Spain United States Not America America=Contonent Asians From Asia Africans From Africa Europeans From Europe Americans From American

  • United States Not America Republica Filipinas =Rey Felipe II King Phillip II The National Anthem Of Filipinas Was Writte In Espanol Espanol Was The Frist Official Language In Filipinas Western Sahara And Equatorial Guinea Both Nations Speak Espanol Both In African Continent Western Sahara They Are Arab-Berber People They Are Europeans That Speak Espanol That Country Is The Kingdom Of Spain

  • Latins Are From Europe Francia Portugal Italia Espana Rumania America =Amerigo Vespucci=Italian=Latin Espana Hispania Hispalis Hesperia "Western Land" That Name Was Given By The Romans El Reino De Espana ( The Kingdom Of Spain) Is Made Up Of Many Ethynic Groups Basques Catalans They Have Their Own Language Andalucians That Word Comes From Vandals A Germanic Tribe Galicians Cantabrians Asturians Are Celtic Nations They Are Part Of The Kingdom Of Spain

  • I was born to a Puerto Rican Mother and an African-American Father. My race and ethnicity is Black/African-American by the Government or whatever because Latino/Hispanic is not a race. But I am NOT 100% Black. My eye color for example largely points to European heritage (Hazel). Honestly, who are you people to tell me what I am and what I can or can't identify as? Fact is, society makes Latino/Hispanic a race regardless of what the government says so it doesn't even matter.

  • I just wanna point something out. Just because "Latino/Hispanic" isn't a race doesn't mean people who say they're half Hispanic and half Other (Black, White, etc.) aren't mixed. Some of you are making it sound like those who claim to be Afro-Hispanic or even White-Hispanic are 100% Black or White. That's not the case because America is a homogeneous country. And it just so happens that Latinos/Hispanics are more mixed than anyone else.

  • you are blacks in USA and blacks in the rest of Americas , why or how could be a "confusion"?

  • one of the things that many people do not understand is that black consiousness in latin america perticularly with afro latinos has not been raised there has never been a black civil rights movement in any country in latin america black hispanics or afro latinos are not offended because zero representation on television is all they know. The question is why are they not offended? the counter question is; why is been offended important. offeded about something they know nothing about.

  • People, Hispanic and Latino aren't races so what is your ethnicity ? Be Forreal. My mom's father was Afro Cuban and he was black. Also I'm native American descent, African descent and European but I have no problems of being black. I accept it what I am.

  • Great Observations.

  • my husband is dominican and he is light skin. hispanic and latinos are racist towards him. some bitch had the nerve to say something about him and she's puerto rican and she don't even speak spanish. i don't care for puerto ricans

  • @skyyeblue101 not all puerto ricans r like that , im puerto rican n im white n spanish is my main language n i dont go up to people and insult them , but some r insensitive not all of us but most of us are, i guess u learn to live with it lol

  • @deborahcr1 i know. life is just mess up, but it's a lot in ny. i'm jamaican and everyone thinks i'm spanish and tries to talk to me spanish. i tell them tht i'm not their look sad

  • @skyyeblue101 Spanish = Spain only

    Latin Americans = Spanish Speaking

  • im latino and we are so fucking racist as nazis

we hate black people cuz they lazy and dumb

plus the razon we don t like blacks is cuz they don t represent what we are

    a real hard working people

  • @ilovegirls69style From reading your comment, I came to the conclusion that you have not finished highschool.

  • @ilovegirls69style so true and some try to pretend that they are not racist why is that?

  • even the domican republic that is 80 -90 percent of african decent the the tv there novelas shows so on are 80 percent white faces

  • sure mostly all latin american countries the television shows and programs the people are white and the majority of the country is not

  • People, why are all of you arguing or debating about black or Afro Hispanic? Why do you care? Many black people live all over and they are difference pride. I don't care if they're mixed, black, or whatsoever so proud who you are because you are human being. My mom's father was Cuban also he was black and I am part native American, black and white but I am proud who I am. Please don't judge on their nationality or ethnicity. Be yourself and be proud.

  • There were no Haitians in there and they speak french but are still latino

  • @sakukillerreborn They don't call themselves latino. The Hatian people identify more with Africa then most latin American countries.

  • como un latino de desendencia africana no se porque un americana de cualquier raza tiene que meterce en lo que no tiene que ver IF YOU CANT UNDERSTAND THIS then u should have probably never have posted this video in the first place if it doesnt concern you then....and dont say it does because ur black because afro latino is a totally different thing that varies from country 2 country but if u were latin u would have known that i dont even bring this up 2 my dom. rep. friends because its RUDE

  • they may not have shown them but in they are still recognized

  • My mothers side are a mixture of Native American [Central] and "Afro-Latino" but I did some research and in my country there really isn't a difference because the Natives and the Africans were already a combined culture in that land. My fathers side are a mix also of Native and Spaniard. Me PERSONALLY I am a VERY PROUD HUMAN BEING to have All 3 races running in my blood... without the 3 i wouldn't be here! No1 in the world can say they are pure anything unless you live in the amazon O.o

  • MOST AFRO LATINS DONT CALL THEM SELFS BLACK

  • It's amazing how you-beaners can categorize Americans as Racist for just speaking facts through observation! you all are really disgusting! Yeah, the "racist" epithet is overused by those who have no real arguments. It's an intimidation tactic, nothing more. I have spoken to alot of ppl on the topic of 'Spics'..but few,racist....iam the true racist I HATE UR EXISTENCE..its far worst than the most unimaginable rape...I wish the US would form an hispanic genocide...thats the only resolution...

  • no afro-latino, no native-latino, no-asian-latino, no mix-latino just white latino......why ? b/c they white regarless which culture their use.... just be white and you will be in t.v.

  • Another example is why do people freak out when a black person speaks Spanish? Well probably because Spanish is a language that originated in Europe & 2nd why do black people have to justify they are hispanic/latino? Well because the Hispanics/Latinos originated from Europe & people associate Hispanic/Latinos with White Europeans.

  • @sportsmarvel Yeah I think lots of people forget that African slaves landed in the AMERICAS! Not just North, but also South America. There are even slaves in Canada. Yet no one is taught about slavery in Canada and the black Canadians that have been there for generations.

  • @Sharayai Great point we as well. I think people have to understand that every country in the world now has a black population. Example France. Shy'm check out her video ---- Shy'm - Je Suis Moi ------- or MMA Fighter Cheick Kongo you have Afro British Lennox Lewis & Leona Lewis - Afro Chinese --- YouTube- Lou Jing on Go! Oriental Girl (Black-Asian) Racism.mp4 ----- I am surprised that many people don't know much history on Middle passage or the Caribbean. It is crazy.

  • I mean it is good that your family doesn't see color but have u ever consider how the Europeans of Spanish Ancestry who never mixed feel? I mean maybe they don't believe in mixing & maybe they feel they share the same culture with people who look like them. I mean its like having different tribes and they feel more comfortable with people that have the same traits & who they can relate to.Also did these people really build a fair society from the beginning & did they ever think slavery would end

  • Comment removed

  • Cont & if their mixed as well they are not always accepted as true Latinos We can all pretend like everyone is equal in Latin America but that is not true. You can see a lot of communities in places like Colombia like Palanque or Loaiza Puerto Rico & even Mexico & Brazil where Afro Latinos are in areas of the country Even Cuba still has racism because the people R not consider true Hispanic/Latinos

Type link in google search bar

  • I mean even in the Caribbean Dominicans treat Haitians racially despite the D.R having the highest rate of Afro Descendants behind Haiti in Latin America. Haiti is also in Latin America & the Dominicans & the Haitians don't claim to be Latinos/Latinas & actually invaded Hispaniola to free the Dominicans of slavery & Oppression from their White Spanish Masters. Its not that people are trying to separate races its that their already is separation 7 the mixed aren't always accepted either

  • @sportsmarvel brazil has the highest rate....

  • @lilliemaye I meant in Spanish Speaking Latin America. Brazil has the highest rate overall but they speak Portuguese and are Lusophone although some do claim Hispano or consider themselves Hispanophone this people have ancestry that comes from Spain.Example Their is a small population of Spanish Brazilians who live in Brazil. Slaves from West Africa directly to Brazil or the West Indies which at first was HIspaniola now Dominican Republic and Haiti as well as Jamaica

  • Comment removed

  • CONT. at the end of the day, i consider my family the same and do not separate them and say, this cousin is black, this ones white, etc. it just seems that all this labeling is just to separate hispanics whoa re very diverse when at least in my family, we dont care about color! we're all family! i will never label my cousin white or black or whatever because thenits like separating her from me as if shes different...i hate labels! i guess we hispanics hate labels cuz i do!

  • Comment removed

  • @patriciacarrasco Patrica you answered the question yourself. Your cousin is Black or Afro Descendant & the other is White probably ancestry from Spain, Portugal, Italy, France,. Where it gets tricky if they are half & half then they would be consider depending on mix. Mulatto if the mix is Black & White or Mestizo if it is Spanish & Native. Pardo if all 3 race White, Black, Indian. We all know that in Latin American countries blacks aren't considered latinos but Negros & if their mixed

  • i can tell u that as a dominican i do get annoyed watching telemundo and univision not portraying dark-skinned hispanics, only until recently...its sickening. but..i hate that black americans are tryna force the issue and proclaim that we are "afro-hispanic"! my family is very mixed, w/ white black, even amerindian people, and i look like all combined. what do i call myself? my dark-skinned cousin can call herself "afro-latino" but what about me? CONT.

  • Latinos came from Italy and established their presence in the Iberian peninsula. If you look at a old Roman maps they called Spain Roman Hispania If you take Italian and move around the letters you get Latin the language spoke by many of Romans territories. Romantico is derived from Roman and in English is Romance

go to this site to find out what Latino/Hispanic is copy & paste in google search bar

LOL Genio :)

  • @oldersorders Latin no es solo un idioma. Busca Latins (Italic Tribe) The Latins (or Latini) were a people of ancient Italy who included the inhabitants of the early City of Rome. From ca. 1000 BC, the Latins inhabited the small part of the peninsula known to the Romans as Old Latium (Latium Vetus), that is, the region between the river Tiber and the promontory of Monte Circeo (ca. 60 mi or 100 km SE of Rome). De Nada Idiota. :)

  • I get annoyed with alot of things that concern mixed people. Like the fact that mulatto's are being more represented than all other mixed race people in this country. And that some people think being mixed race is about being mulatto. And it irritates that certain people can't own up to their own ignorance about mixed people, or about some other topic. But it's whatever. You have to take your lumps with certain issues. The road is never smooth when the issue concerns equality of some sort.

  • I'm very vocal about my identity as an afro-latina as well as the representation of afro-latino's. I even stand up for other mixed people like afro-asian's and asian latino's. Course, I'm just one person, and I don't know any major forums or news networks to talk to about our issues. But every little bit counts.

  • I am Dominican and i am a so called "afro Latino". We dont get represented because racism is still alive and my own people HATE themselves. My own people deny their African ancestry. Its not only that show that you are watching, Its our own families that want to "whiten their race" that is why "we" arent pissed because my people(our people) black people want to be WHITE! they SWEAR by their white ancestry ,its disgusting! I myself am shunned for saying that we are black.

  • @PDRO4LYFE Wow! That's deep.

  • Where are you latino at honey? lol

  • haiti is consider a latin country they speak creole french

no other race is better then another race.

  • it is a big problem, thats why i dont watch telemundo or other spanish chanels. they love showing latino people as only white when the majority of us are mulatto and then black. im cuban and i identify myself as west african more than i do when i call myself afro-latino. people always get surprised when they see me speaking spanish. cuba is really 62% black and most of us still speak african languages. go to the DR you will see that 70% of them are not mulatto in fact i would say only 40% is

  • @nigerianlove12 the majority aint black maybe in cuba

  • @MrSpa1n in Cuba, Brazil and the Dominican Rep. its majority black

  • @nigerianlove12 okay but they are not the majority in all of latin america

  • @MrSpa1n yeah i know.

  • @nigerianlove12 I don't know about Cuba, but Brazil and the Dominican Republic are only "black" if you're going by the one drop rule; in reality, they are majority mulatto/multiracial countries.

  • @BoriGuANiCA I mean majority black as in Afro-Descent in general. Whether triracial, mulato, or black.

  • @nigerianlove12 i disagree .... the blcks all over south america they jst whitened the skin... please watch black in latin america or afrolatinos

  • @nigerianlove12 i love you already. West Africa and Africa is happy to have you as one of her own. My mum is Cuban and Malian, is alway says Malian.

  • I can't remember last time I responded to a comment. I can't remember lol, I remember you asked me a question.

  • Actually if you ever go to South America, I have. The racism is much greater then in America towards afro latinos, native indians, racial comments are tossed about carelessly and they seem and act disimpowered. They are a big minority unless you go to brazil. For example when i went to Chile, I was in probably the most populated city in South America, only seen one and he was working as a server with a poncho on. Turns out he was Central American. There is also a huge amount of classism.

  • it is the seem old tire game of white is right; black get back . i am a black american that lived in puerta rico . blacks are tolerated their at best , or simply ignored. most live in a fuzzy land of I AM PUERTA RICAN . neither black or white ; how ever only very light or whites hold the power positions . they have a saying , THERE IS NOT COLOR HERE . that is true as long as it is not too black .

  • where are they at ? here

  • @760babydoll African slaves in large numbers were also brought to Mexico. Without the influence and contribution of Africans, Mexicans would NOT be who they are today

  • You can see some afro-puertoricans beauty pagenats on this video(they are in some pics)

    watch?v=lb-qcOqNInQ

  • I would like for an afro-boricua to be rpreneting our country in a beauty contest as some latin american countires have done, but I see it very far for happening, perhaps one day it will happen, but I can't say it will be soon.

  • Are you sure you are not afro latina? you have african ancestory you have beautiful big west african looking lips, rounded nose and big curly hair

  • @Applebaum Wow. you act as if you have never seen blacks with curly hair who were not afro latina, lol .

  • @avamilan lol starting trouble..I don't think so I am discussing a very REAL problem why do you care if your not hispanic or black mind your business..you act like you know everybody stop stereotyping.

  • @CerebralMadness I have alot of latino friends and i been to latin country and i see how they treat the blacks. You never been to latin country so you dont even know anyting you just going by what media google and youtube tell you.So you should mind your biz.You think is hard to be balck in america huh go to spain or south american country or even the carribean so how quick you come back to the the US the land of the free.Their is no law that protect blacks in those country like the USA!!

  • @avamilan

On the caribbean blacks are even treated better than in the US, you could expect discrimination in Spain and South America as they don't have a visible black population, but in the caribbean there is a good amount of it.

  • @prjibaro1 There is a visible population of blacks in South America. What are you talking about? Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru have huge numbers of blacks and Afrodesciendentes

  • @chsn09

But what about uruguay, Argentina and the like.

I agree about the first three, but Ecuador and Peru is more mestizo.

  • @CerebralMadness What is the name of the song that you used in the beginning of this/your video?

  • good vid sis i cosign this message. keep teaching

  • @CerebralMadness While the critique of Spanish media is accurate to say that Soledad O Brians Latino in America was white washed is far from true. In one segment they showed two half Dominican half Puerto Rican brothers who shunned their Latino identities for African American identities where they live in the South. There was also the story of a Dominican girl in the Bronx who was also Afro Latino. So I would not say that Latino in America excluded afro Latinos. BTW Soledad is black Latina

  • @avamilan if the black people in latin America all bleach themselves, how come I still see many dark skinned cubans, brazillians, ecuadorians, etc the African culture has impacted Cuba in both foods and a religion known as Santeria. In brazil also, they have the west African religion known as candomble.

For your information, the so called "white" latinos also bleach and blond their hair, even the Asian countries, especially India and Phillipines now have skin lightening pills or tablets.

  • The word black referring to us actual brown people comes from the latin negro. The word nigger does also

  • it is prophesied in the bible we would be mistreated and called bywords. we are not black , latina, afro hispanics etc. we are israelites. we need to wake up to this knowledge.

  • Trujillo was known for his open-door policy, accepting Jewish refugees from Europe, Japanese migration during the 1930s, and exiles from Spain following its civil war. He developed a uniquely Dominican policy of racial discrimination, Antihaitianismo ("anti-Haitianism"), targeting the mostly-black inhabitants of his neighboring country and those within the Platano Curtain, including many darker Dominican citizens. At the 1938 Evian Conference the Dominican Republic was the only country willing

  • to accept many Jews and offered to accept up to 100,000 refugees on generous terms. In 1940 an agreement was signed and Trujillo donated 26,000 acres (110 km2) of his properties for settlements. The first settlers arrived in May 1940; eventually some 800 settlers came to Sosua and most moved later on to the United States.

  • Refugees from Europe broadened the Dominican Republic's tax base and added more whites to the predominately mixed-race nation. The government favored Caucasian refugees over others while Dominican troops expelled illegal aliens, resulting in the 1937 Parsley Massacre of Haitian immigrants.

  • SHUUUUUUTT

  • Also most dark mulattos and blacks in Latin america don't consider themselfs black. Same goes with the ones that are mostly ameri-indian, they don't consider themselfs native american .So you wont hear them protesting, about the Latin American media not having enough of the non white ones. To them it's just normal.

That's why to me the word Hispanic and Latino should've just stayed in europe. But no, the french had to tell them that they were part of the latino race.

  • @MangoMass77 Well some people on the television programs of Latin America may be Afrodescendants or Indigenous descent but may not identify as black or Native American exclusively but something else like mixed etc

  • WTF ARE ALL YOU PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT?

First anglo does not mean white anglo saxon means son of Abraham so how can it mean white?

Second; The so-called black people in this country are not repeat ARE NOT african. The first slaves ships that came to the west did not even come from africa. Africans and moors i.e. Hebrew Israelites are two separate nations.

just cuz we both have dark skin does not mean we share the same beliefs for that matter. Even African will tell you that we are a different

  • @dedseason NONSENSE

  • To be Latino you have to be part of the Latin culture so even if you want to be Latina, you couldn't because you don't have the Latin culture... Now whatever happens in the USA doesn't represent Latin America... So just because you see a Latino image in the American media doesn't mean, our media in Latin America shows the same image... So you have to watch the media in Latin America to make any valid comments...

  • @javie2 The Latin American media is worse when it comes to given dark people serious roles then the one's in the united states.

Just look at novelas from mexico, colombia, etc the main actors are white, some have natural blonde hair. Even the maids now are white lol.

The United States focuses more on the tan ones, while Latin America focuses on the white ones. Sadly both don't focuse on the black people from latin america. Not even the spanish speaking countries with a black/mulatto majority.

  • @MangoMass77 Be serious... I'm talking about serious matters and you're talking about novelas. The American society historically has been a country that treated minorities like animals so they could segregate them. That's why the came up with laws like Jim Crow laws. In the other hand, Latin America never had those laws because Latin America society had a total different view of its own people. Latin America is an inclusive society where racial mixing is accepted.

  • @javie2 Racial mixing is frowned upon in Latin America. The ones that guarded their racial purity or seperateness were praised and given better stance in societies. Look at El Salvador's 10-12 Families aka elites, and the historical 20 families elites known as RABIBLANCOS in Panama.

Those that did not mix were given a higher praise. Mixing took place but it was still looked down upon or to marry whiter to become white until as white as possible.

  • @chsn09 Families getting an Elite status has nothing to do with racial mixing. The Elite families of today are usually immigrants that came to Latin America and had a network of contacts and capital that they brought to start businesses in their new countries. So being pure or mixed does Nothing to create Wealth. Having an entrepreneur spirit, business ethics and being connected to the right people makes the difference. The Slim family in Mexico and the Wong family in Peru are clear examples.

  • @javie2 You missed my point. I am saying in places like Panama etc there are many people that are whites that have ancestry going back to colonial times that are known as the rabiblancos. Many immigrants have become part of the rabiblancos class but many white Colombians and white Panamanians from colonial times helped form this elite and guarded their racial purity. And the lighter the skin the better the chances of wealth are for you.

  • @chsn09 A region where 99 of their culture is mixed can hardly be considered a society where mixing is frowned upon. On the contrary, racial mixing in Latin America was encouraged to populate the vast regions of Latin America. Mixing in Latin America was so highly praised that you can see it in every aspect of Latin American life from culture, arts, language, religion, music, traditions, etc Now Latin America has always being a region of constant changes and new migrations shaping Latin America.

  • @javie2 LOL. Again mixing was frowned upon from those that maintained their so called "racial purity". Racial mixing was only encouraged because they wanted to "whiten" the population and mejorar la raza. Mixing compared to keeping a pure white race is frowned upon. Those that maintained a white race etc were preferred.

  • @chsn09 Can you validate your arguments with historical facts?

  • @javie2 Today, Latin America’s racial history is complicated and hard for outsiders to grasp. Latin American nations often promote the idea of mestisaje, or mixed-ness, as a national ideal and culture, hiding the fact that resources and power are often hugely concentrated in the hands of the lightest-skinned few. The needs of black communities have been often ignored by the powerful, and often left in poverty far below the standards of their societies.

  • @chsn09 Just to show how your premise does Not hold, the richest man in the world, Mexican Carlos Slim comes from a Lebanese family that migrated to Chihuahua, Mexico in 1902. His family is Non European. Another case, the richest man in Peru, Efrain Wong, comes from a Chinese family that migrated to Peru in 1884. Another Non European family. So where do you get your theory that wealth and power are concentrated in the hands of European descendants.

  • @javie2 LOLOL. Lebanese immigrants to various nations of Latin America and the Caribbean were deemed as acceptable because they were considered white and also many of them were successful. Many of these Lebanese and Syrians were Caucasian Arabs. Asians of course may have faced some discrimination but many were able to become successful and rich.

And it is true. Often times the elite in various Latin American countries tend to be of European descent or lighter skinned.

  • @chsn09 Your error in your Analysis about Latin America is that you try to apply american issues like race to a total different culture like Latin America society who does Not view race like Americans do. In Latin America, people don't see themselves as darker skinned or lighter skinned. But they would see rich and poor people. And since there is Not a strong middle in Latin America, most are poor people of any background...

  • @javie2 Nope. I understand the complexities of race in Latin America and the difference in application and views on the subject/topic at hand. All I am saying is that race and class go hand in hand but there is implied discreet/subtle racism as usual.

  • @javie2 lmao and you're telling me to be serious? Boy you've been drinking way to much que vivan los latinos media kool-aid to belive the bullshit that you just said.

Google: Cuba race war of 1912

All you got to do is google and search youtube videos of any spanish speaking country with the word racism next to it.

So javie, congrats on beliving the myth that their is racial equality in latin america and that the only time latin america had a racist past, was when spain use to rule it.

  • @MangoMass77 You gotta be a loony to believe the conspiracy theories of Latin American racism from youtube videos made by American terrorist propaganda...

LOL... Let me guess... that's the same country that had Jim Crow Laws and is bombing and raping women and children around the world... So you believe in conspiracy theories, I guess you also believe that Elvis is still alive and the world is ruled by an Alien lizards elite!! Now the fact that you come from a terrorist country is real...

  • @javie2You seem to be one of those who belives in conspiracy theories that accuse the United States of doing those things.

Now the youtube videos that shows the racism that goes on in latin america is made by latin american themselfs. People interview citizens of the countries and what they think of black latin americans and people of other latin american countries and let me tell you it isn't nice.

Now like i said go google la chambelona which was a racial war between whites and black cubans

  • @MangoMass77 So according to you, Jim Crow laws is a conspiracy theory too and never happened... You are a joke... Your USA American terrorist country has a long history of home grown terrorism (KKK) against their own citizens and terrorism around the world killing and raping women and children (Viertnam, Irak)... So the fact that you considered Jim Crow laws and segregation a conspiracy theory from people who accuse the USA for fun just shows that you're a straight out liar...

  • @javie2 Eres Idiota o te ases? Soy Latino Americano. The United States has done evil things, just like it's also done good.

The topic here is about Latin American racism. But you keep bringing up the United States being evil and not saying anything to prove me wrong about Latin America still having racism. Don't reply to me, if you're just going to keep avoiding everything that i told you to research.

chsn already told you how it is, but you also avoided what he posted.

  • @MangoMass77 Your grammar is as bad in english as it is in spanish. Se escribe "Eres o te haces?"

  • @MangoMass77 Anyway, I researched la chambelona and it has nothing to do about race. You have to put historical events in context. La Chambelona was just another typical guerrilla insurgency in Latin America being defeated by a militaristic state. Nothing new... Latin American has always being ground of caudillos fighting each other. Now the way you make the connection to a racial war is Not only far fetched but something coming out of the X-Files.

  • @javie2Ok now you're just messing with m,e when you say it wasn't about race. I told you to search cuba racial war of 1912. You will read what they did to black cubans that weren't even part of " Partido de Independiente de Color.

I would send you the links to all this stuff but youtube blocks it.

Also you're dominican, If only you knew what other latin americans say about you guys, especially if you're black. Nah it couldn't be racist, because we latin americans see each other as one. lmao

  • @MangoMass77 Guess what? I've traveled across Latin America and if there is something all my Latin Americans brothers and sisters have in common is that we are a big family. Sometimes we've fought each other in the past because of the terrible distribution of wealth between The haves and The haves-nots or political reasons between different ideologies like all brothers do but at the end of the day, we're part of the same family.

  • @MangoMass77 And when someone from outside our culture is threatening us, Latin-Americans get more united. So neither you nor any other American is gonna put us against each other... We're not stupid.. It's clear what your agenda is.. You hate Latin-America and you wish Latin-America did not exist.

  • @javie2 Make belive stories?

So what i take with your replys is, that the people in Latin America crying racism can go fuck themselfs, Because their is no such thing as racism in latin america. Once again the white elitist javie trying to hide the racism that goes on in latin america no matter what proof they give him, even stuff that is in the history books and videos in spanish showing the racism that still goes on.

  • @MangoMass77 The Haves always discriminate against The Have-Nots but it's illegal and punish by law unlike your USA country where discrimination was legalized under Jim Crow laws. Thank god we come from two different cultures.

  • @MangoMass77 Your American culture was founded on the basis of Racism to the point that your US government made discrimination the law of the land. In contrast, my Latin culture realized the evil of racism and after society abolished slavery our Latin governments never had your Jim Crow laws that created Segregation.

  • @javie2 YAWN.......

  • @javie2 let me educate you for a minute kid. the Jim Crow laws were enacted by a few specific states and localities, they were not exacted by the US government. the federal gov't worked hard to eliminate them, and actually did so in less than 100 years. you need to question the information you are spoon-fed kid; quite often it is not the truth.

  • @latinasdoitbetter1 The fact that the USA government looked the other way; while some state governments were treating their own people as second class citizens, makes the USA government as evil as the local governments enforcing those laws. That history shows the kind of society you live in. Only a few countries in the world had laws like Jim Crow laws and one of them is the USA, the other being South Africa. The rest of the world has a higher standard of the value of human life.

  • @javie2 well im not really worried about your ridiculous beliefs since i know more people around the world die trying to come to my country than your shithole. but i will point out you ignored the fact (which i already stated) that without the US government acting quickly and strongly against the Jim crow laws they would still be around. you cant change things overnight, so 80 years or so was pretty impressive. ( i know facts dont matter to bigots so dont worry about them kid)

  • @MangoMass77 Life is too short to be around negative people like you specially foreigners who hate other cultures and bullshit people with their make believe stories with no credible sources. Life lesson: Try to work on solving problems to make your community better instead of you being the problem yourself... And nobody is forcing you to go to a country if you hate their culture, you can always stay in your good old USA.

  • @javie2 I'm Latin American, as you can see from my bad english grammer.

It seems like you wont google anything that has to do with the racism that goes on in latin america and will keep making belive it has a non racist past and present. If you don't belive me and think i'm reading this from american terrorist,. then google it in spanish and you will see books written by afro latinos,

  • @javie2 Ok i'm going to ask you a question. Have you ever wondered why the novelas, almost always shows the life of white hispanics,?

I know you said that me speaking about the novela stuff is a joke. But when you think about it isn't. Like it or not Latin America favors white skin and caucasian facial features.

On youtube search: racismo en latinoamerica and racismo y discriminación en Argentina

chsn is spot on with the things that he said. Just listen and don't make excuses.

  • @javie2 LOLOL. racism is still racism and if you think that there is no racism at all in Latin America and live in a fantasy based reality or fanality as I like to call it lol, then you are in for a rude awakening. To say that equality and lack of racism is a Latin American reality is just as foolish as saying that everything in the USA is perfect!

  • @chsn09 I never said there is such thing as equality in Latin America. Don't confuse Equality with Racism. I said that problems of Inequality in Latin America are rooted in Classism or the bad distribution of wealth between Upper Class and the working class. Latin America never had Segregation (The institution that legalize the conversion of human beings into second class citizens) which is the cause of Racism. It would be wise if u put events into context because Latin America is Not the USA.

  • @javie2 Cuba had a form of segregation throughout the 20th Century until Fidel Castro came into power. Dominican Republic still denies di que "blacks" entry into many of their clubs.

  • @chsn09 That's funny. I live in Santo Domingo, DR. So I'm gonna pretend like you didn't mention that so I don't make you feel bad for your blatant ignorance. Now, you mentioned Cuba had a form of Segregation. There is Not such thing as a "Form" of segregation. Either Segregation exists or it doesn't.

  • @javie2 Don't be silly. Segregation is segregation. Segregation existed in Cuba early on throughout the 20th century.

LMAO. It is funny how you say you live in Santo Domingo, DR yet your YT page says that your country is SPAIN! Hmm why is that? lol

  • @chsn09 He also seems to not remember Rafael Trujillo.

  • @MangoMass77 N OOOOOOOOOOOOOFUK AAF ROC EN TR I ST THA T ALL

  • @elmagisian You actually made a lot more sense than that broken record named javie.

  • @MangoMass77 SHUTUP FUCTARD
