Agreed, Nirvana was not just Kurt. Kurt was the writer and force behind Nirvana as we remember it but he was not the band. Krist and Dave provided key elements to the music that made it what we hear. Dave has proven himself to be a profound song writer and a master of drums, vocals and guitar.
Why does everyone say this has something to do with Nirvana, yes they covered it on the 'Heart Shaped Box' single but this version is only Dave Grohl under the name 'Late!'
There was a Pocketwatch cassette going for 5,000 on Ebay. I really want to find another one, not just download it. I love Marigold, one of my favorite songs, this version is the best.
kurt and dave was the best conbination of song writers EVER mainly coz they both came from the bottom and came to the very top they sing about their hardships that they had living as normal people rather than these days u get kids from ages of about 9 and get specialy tutored(all paid for by ther very rich families) and grow up being famous...how amazing it must be to be able to go on that journy from poor kid to rich rock star ^_^
In bloom! (beginning...), anyone who says dave didn't write half the riffs is deluded, funny how nirvana completely evolved with Nevermind... (respect to kurt tho, he still did most of it....)
Without the three of them, Dave's powerhouse drumming, Krist's steady baselines, and Kurt's voice, there would have been no Nirvana. They all made Nirvana what it was, and what it remains today, not just Kurt.
Dave Grohl wrote the song but Cobain liked it so it first came out as a B side to Nirvanas "Heart Shaped Box" single. After Nirvana Grohl released the song under a psedonym (Late!) in the album Pocketwatch
This apparently came out first in early 1992- "In Grohl's initial months in Seattle, Cobain overheard him working on a song called "Color Pictures of a Marigold", and the two ended up jamming on it. Grohl would later record the song for the Pocketwatch cassette. During the sessions for In Utero, he decided to re-record the song, and the band released this version as a b-side on the "Heart-Shaped Box" single, titled simply "Marigold"."
what band name did dave use for this for this album was late pocketwatch just the name of the album of his new side band name and did dave ever play any of these songs from late live ever cus there awesome but ive never heard them played at any of his shows? if anybody knows please reply id really be grateful thanx everyone
is this daves own song or a cover if it is his song what album is it on? is it considered a foo fighters song or just a song by dave grohl please reply anybody thanx
this song is amazing. im not veyr big on anyd of the fo fighter's stuff, or much of anythign dave grohl has done... did this song go anywhere other than with the lights out or incesticide?
I'd say they probably evolved separately, but I did see them play this about a year ago while they were doing the acoustic part of their set. They segued right into My Hero, you couldn't tell where one ended and the other began.
He was an amazing drummer for the band, and I love Nirvana. However, I love his composing (although arguably he could drum and still write songs) moreso and crucially, love his voice. Foo Fighters is my favourite band that I've come across.
No. Dave has said it and Friend of a Friend were the first songs he wrote on acoustic guitar.
The first song Dave wrote and recorded with himself on all instruments was Gods Look Down. Scream rerecorded it as a full band version with Dave and Pete Stahl both singing and released the song on the album Fumble.
Too bloody right. This stuff may not be the best quality in terms of the sound, but it's music from the heart, without any commercial aspect to it. They should release it - they'd sell shitloads of 'em. Or they should at least release it as a second disc for a re-release of the first Foos album.
sounds like wheels to me.
