US congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has come out and blamed the pro-Israel Lobby in America (AIPAC, ADL, ZOA, etc) for ruining her political career. While in congress she refused to sign the pro-Israel pledge and took a pro-Palestinian stance. Because of this, McKinney said “war was declared” on her by the Jewish lobby. In 2009 she told TIU's Ognir that “more than 99% of Congress work for Pro Zionist Israeli interests.”
One of my favourite directors. His movies has some of the most touching scenes I have ever seen in movies. I can't understand why he is so underrated.
lawrence of arabias overrated though. epic production designs and locations and even o'tooles performance cant completley make up for the empty script
i knew his favorite movie would be lawrence of arabia! i watched last samurai and i think this guy is the best director of epics today. no wonder his favorite movie is lawrence of arabia.
@Superhumanattack GLORY is one of the few few excellent films of the 1980s. Unfortunately for Zwick and for us, he has made nothing good since then. I like his choice, though, and I wonder if CITIZEN KANE had never been made whether it would be LAWRENCE on those SIGHT & SOUND top 10's?
smart man, that also my favourite movie, beautifully directed, marvelously photograph, magnificiently edited, majestically scored and perfectly acted.
David Cronenberg's The Fly. The perfect marriage of horror/sci-fi and drama, the genres I cling to the most. Its powerful, frightening, repulsive, heartbreaking and on a technical level, superbly realized. The make-up and puppetry effects are hands down some of the greatest to ever grace the screen. And done practically, I might add; theres something about practical, visceral effects that just cant be beaten in a horror film. Davis and Goldblum are wonderful, charismatic leads also.
In response to Wayne, i wear Glory as a badge of honor. Its a film ive watched with awe as a little kid, and one that i continue to enjoy now even more. The Fort Wagner sequence is always going to get me nervous EVERY TIME!! I always hope that the Union wins the battle but they dont. Great film though.
zwick was awful in blood diamond! the film dealt with a critical subject but he totally fumbled it. he should be very thankful he had dicaprio as his lead actor...completely saved his butt from his awful cliches and lack of artistic ability.
You have to pick your favourite movie and just wear it like a badge of honour. Mine is Last Tango in Paris, because of what it means to me, even though there are films I appreciate or enjoy more. People get a chill or give me a dark look when I tell them, or say "get the butter", but I stick to my guns.
this idiot directed "Blood Diamond" and "Glory" and one of my favorite tom cruise movies "The Las Samurai". so show a little respect....u microwavefishdick

I am not asking because of any racial bias, but is Ed Zwick black or white?

Makes a lot of sense, he makes great historical epics himself.

This guy is stuck between becoming great and falling down a hole. He makes movies that are well accepted, but are never Acknowledged by the academy.

I always think that Zwick's movies have powerful themes but don't follow through on them properly. They always intrigue and disappoint, by turns.

^^ Last Tango in Paris, just because it hits home, frightfully enough... which, I suppose, is what makes it great.
