Munky and Head were never guitar geeks, and NEVER will be, obviously as guitarists playing solos never was "there calling", but for being on stage in front of all those people and doing something totally different they pulled it off pretty well, I'm a guitarist of 10 yrs and have never put the guitar down since I first started and will admit I couldnt duplicate those solos live as well as they did, cheers!

To begin with, I don't think either of them was or is 'technically' good. They have great style and dissidence with banging riffs. After being on the road for as long as they have I'm sure anybody could play those leads. What else do you have to do all day. Plus most of that was not even their own. I heard part of eruption, cheesy. It was just a bunch of tremolo picking. How cares of they are technical? They made a bunch of sweet albums.

Instead of a Metal rebellion i propose a new plan.
1. Instead of bashin other metal artists, we need to unite. We cant fight against pop music if we arent even together.
2. Watch more and other metal videos to get it to the top of the youtube vid list
3. Instead of bashing pop, promote metal with logical reasons, not just "METAL RULES!!"

To begin with, I don't think either of them was or is 'technically' good. They have great style and dissidence with banging riffs. After being on the road for as long as they have I'm sure anybody could play those leads. What else do you have to do all day. Plus most of that was not even their own. I heard part of eruption, cheesy. It was just a bunch of tremolo picking. How cares of they are technical? They made a bunch of sweet albums.

@Blitzzkreigg Man really the only other way to create something fundamentally sound without knowledge of theory would be with a very solid ear, and they don't possess that either.. sloppy random chromatics and a shitty eruption solo(thousands of people learn that shit at a young age with their starter low watt amp and epiphone) isn't enough to convince me otherwise

@Lupi2 Im really not usually one to go on youtube comments and burn people but my buddy who used to listen to korn(when he was 12-15 angsty and didnt know any better) showed me this because he knew i would get a kick out of it and i gotta say 4 months later it still has its shock factor like.. "millions of people listen to these guys?!" as far as theory goes ive been a musician for 20 years and i know clearly a bit more than korn although thats not saying much as far as these guys show! lol

@Lupi2 So what you're trying to tell me is even though in this video they try and solo to be like "hey we can do more than just play some chords in drop tunings" and when i knowledge the simplicity to them your defense is "solos aint an example of their style".. And i dont base my opinion on this video but this video does prove my point.. My opinion is that korn is for 12-15 year olds (maybe older if they are really immature) and ur responses are almost as hollow as Jon Ds lyrics about pain.

Korn wrote some pretty decent and groovy riffs back in the day, but in the music community it is generally understood that they are not very good guitarists in the technical sense. Yes, these solos ARE that bad, and if you had ever heard ANY respectable guitarist play you would understand that....

they aren't good shredders, but as a guitar duo they can create fucking amazing songs and riffs. I don't understand why they're criticised for not playing solos in their songs. There are too much solos in guitar music, 90% of them are CRAP . Soloing should be left to people who can really do it, like Buckethead or to the songs where they are really needed. Korn's songs need no solos.
