Wow, I’ve got an identical guitar complete with a Bigsby which I bought S/H around 1968 for £18, which was a lot of money back then. I’ve never was able to make it sound like that though. In fact I’ve not touched it at all for at least 20 years. Wonder what it’s worth now?
i just got one like this for christmas only instead of being painted red its stained with the bigsby also (i think they only made around 100 for the limited edition witch i got). hofner makes a great guitar don't they.
Is it true that the Verithin is top heavy? Looking into getting one but there isnt one around to try out first, so I'm doing the most of research before commiting to the long trip of reaching the closest shop! Thanks for any reply!
very cool guitar im waiting on one in the mail coming from the uk hope its playable . i dont think it has a scratch plate! how do you find the bigsby for keeping in tune?
The bigsby is fine if you're easy with it. If you're tuners are in good shape then there's not much hassle. My one needs a little bit of work (tuners are not in the best shape, re-frets required, action, a bit of oiling up a set of new strings). I'm lucky all the original electrics work. Many took the scratchplate off as it can get in the way - depends on your playing style. At least it exposes the stunning cream-bound f-holes! Beautiful guitars. Get a vid up when it arrives!
Thats awesome mate, really nice playing. I have the european equivalent, the hofner 4574, also 1964. Exactly the same guitar, except mine lived in germany it's whole life til i got it, so it's not a verithin, its a 4574 :) Mine has the hofner factory trem unit instead of the bigsby.
that' s a sound man, cheers from Belgium
