I went to summer camp just down the road from this place for nine years. Looking at this food, and thinking about the crap they served us, I wished I would have just walked down the road to this place.
@Galactic123 we would call it a bread bun or a savoury scone. But I've never seen anything exactly like it in england, well not served in gravy anyway:P a cookie is a certain type of biscuit to us, and crackers are savoury biscuits without butter:) I just think 'biscuit' doesn't sound right for a soft bun lol:P
They look like scones to me here in Australia, but we'd have them with Jam and Cream.... I can't imagine what we'd have here that was the equivalent??
@Oinkieberry I'm just saying, The original English meaning of biscuit were the thin, hard things. I know many words have been changed in America since you adopted English, and that's absolutely fine, I was just surprised to hear this one because it sounds funny to me. But I'm not saying you shouldn't call them that, you could call them whatever you want!
@millyybabess Just curious, what is the British word for what we Americans call biscuits? What you Brits call biscuits we usually refer to as cookies or in some cases, crackers.
Oh my god is that a biscuit to you americans?! That's so weird they look like bread to me. It's not much of an onomatopoeia, 'biscuit' just sounds like something thin and crisp you can snap, not bread:P lol
@millyybabess there's not really a set word for anything, you know?? some people call them chips and some people just call them french fries... some people call them biscuits and some people call them bread... and why do you have to say "you americans"? i know you don't, but a lot of people from all over the world call them biscuits...god fucking damnit. i wouldn't even reply to you if you hadn't said "you americans"
now that i am retired i would like to travel the whole country and go to these places it wouldn't be healthy but they would never get the smile off my face
Went there for the first time a couple days ago. The biscuits were fabulous. my bbq pork benedict was an interesting idea but the eggs were cooked and the hollandaise sauce was ok. Benedict at the Blue Plate is better. I will probably have the biscuits and gravy next time :)
Been there a few times, food is so good and glad to see that Guy made it to them. :) And agree with Hatcherdogg the Patio is my favorite place to sit (on a nice day). XD
Baking blindfolded! I remember watching a show about Chinese cuisine on one of those multi-culture networks, and a chef had to fillet fish blindfolded for a test. Great stuff.
Margarine?! that's Gross, ;\ you always should use %100 Pure Real Butter
