The poem which in december 1989, during the revolution, became the national anthem of Romania was written during the revolution from 1848 by Andrei Muresanu. Muresanu was reffering at the turks which at the time were occuping the country and were opressing the people. The song was prohibited during the communist regime( 1945-1989).
