  • DALE EARNHARDT WAS ONLY DRIVER OF HIS AGE THAT RAN TO WIN RACES NOT FOR EARN MONEY LIKE THE SHITTY DRIVERS OF TODAY'S NASCAR

  • Did anyone else notice that there was only 7 cars on the lead lap?

  • pause it at 3:21 and ur eyes go crazy over that finish

  • @ 3:24 ray is smart to say the #3 car wins

  • this race is called earn-ing the win

  • Back when racing was racing, what a finish!

  • That was smart driving by Earnhardt. He knew how good the runs Labonte was getting off the high line were, so on the last lap, he took it away. He sacrificed track position, allowed Labonte to get alongside, knowing that he would have the run on Labonte going to the line. I still have to remind myself that Earnhardt was 48 YEARS OLD when he won this!! He was so great for so long. Consistency was his trademark.

  • God, times were good...

  • this race looked like it was yesterday :,(

  • While Earnhardt won the race, Bobby won the championship =/

  • @mzxrules that was awesome!!!! Why would you give a half frown face for Bobby Labonte winning the championship?

  • Get recipes to the dishes from your favorite restaurants...KFC, Cheesecake Factory, Olive Garden and more! - youtube.com/watch?v=6ktnVmKZXOo

  • the closest finish ever in nascar was a year later at the same track. Harvick vs Gordon. Winner by 0.006: Kevin Harvick

  • @Legometallica09 which was beaten by Craven's win over Kurt Bush, who won by 0.002 seconds.

  • @Legometallica09 that finsh called an angel among us

  • "What do you tell Dale Earnhardt period, Benny?" XD

  • This was Nascar in its prime years. Also because these are the sponsors by how I remember the drivers. Bobby Labonte was driving the green 18 car, Gordon stuck with his original paint scheme, Jr. was the #8 Budweiser car... and the list goes on

  • @stormchaser34869 Marlin in the 40 Coors Light car is how most remember him though. I think between the 90's and about 2002 were the best most memorable paint schemes fro drivers

  • I just have to say it. I used to be one of those douchebags who talked shit about Nascar and the people who watch it. But one day I caught this race on espn classic and became a believer. I can't even explain to my friends properly now why I like racing so much.... It's just dale man... it's just dale.

  • I never have gotten how they couldn't tell who won this race until after they look at the scorin' monitors, but they could see who won the 2007 Daytona 500 & who won Darlington in 2003, oh well, this is one of the greatest races of all time, always will be, just Dale Earnhardt will always be the best there ever was in racin'

    #3 forever!

  • Jeff Gordon fan throughout the 90s, and even when I hated Earnhardt then, I sorely miss him now. NASCAR just hasn't been the same since.

  • I miss him too, nothing but respect for him

  • I miss dale... he always put on a show and you could always look up to him winning RIP

  • i believe that there is only one finish that can match this one and that is The 2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 300

  • @Axel7043 There is also the 2001 Atlanta race between Harvick and Gordon.

  • @Axel7043 haha dude the very next year at this track had the identical finish with harvick and gordon. and harvick was in dale's car. if ur gonna compare any finsish to dale and bobby. it would be gordon and harvick in 2001 not the 2003 dodge dealers 500

  • best of all time....no one is even close

  • I was at this race also not the best of seat's

  • I was at this race, killer seats between turn 4 and the start/finish line....man, what an afternoon!!!!

  • Just like the reanactment!

  • This---and the next year by this team---both classic wins.

  • I wish his son had better results like his dad did- hopefully his day is coming thou.

  • What a clean race and finish. Dale always raced clean when it was at the tracks around 1.5 miles or higher... Short track racing you have to bump where the competition is so close... Ask anyone that...

  • true not ALL the time but most of the time and also if he did wreck people on higher than 1.5 miles it was because they were blocking him on last lap or if they cut him off

  • Who was in the booth with Bob and Benny?

    what happened to Ned?

  • Ray Evernham

  • cool

  • Ned never was able to do the races on ABC because he had a contract with CBS. He could do ESPN races because it is not network tv. (it's cable)

  • true, because he never did the first few brickyard races

  • What a race and what a finish!! Thanks for posting this classic footage!!

  • One of the best finishes I've ever seen. (I have the race on tape)

  • GEEZE!, can you send me the whole race please?

  • It's on VHS, and I don't know how to transfer to DVD...

  • He wouldv'e won it. Earnhardt had more points in 34 starts in 2000 than Gordon did in 2001, and more average points. I mean honestly if Harvick did that good in his rookie season, theres no question.

  • couldn't agree more... It would have happened.

  • 2001 earnhart might have had a chance to win the championship.

  • Todd Bodine's best 2000 finish and also Chad Little

  • i'll get piss off if gordon beats up Dale Earnhardt's 7 winston cup championship -.-!

  • It's not just Dale's record. Dale shares it with Richard Petty.

  • still miss that 3 car, still hurts.

  • I cried for a whole week when I heard the news.

  • i just noticed this.... bobby labonte won the 2000 winston cup seris... in this spring race at atlanta he was on the inside and lost by inches to dale. in 2001 in harvicks 3rd cup race he won. it was this same race 1 year later. he beat jeff gordon by inches. gordon was on the inside. he also won the championship tht year. they both clinched the title at the same race of the next year to.

  • Dales 3rd best win (daytona 98' and talldega 00')

  • What about 99' Bristol, 90' Pepsi 400 or 94' Rockingham??? but your right its up there

  • 1. 1998 Daytona (20th try at the Great American Race)

    2. 2000 Atlanta (Then the closest finish ever)

    3. 2000 Talladega (His final win)

    4. 1999 Bristol (Probably his most controversial win)

    5. 1979 Bristol (His first win)

  • gotta agree with your top 5 ty. got the 1st 4 on tape.

  • Same.

  • just got the 'dale' dvd, added bonus it has the full oct. 2000 talladega race. wow.

  • Oh kewl. Dale was the reason I got into NASCAR in the first place, in 1997 (even though he didn't win a race that year)

  • look at all those empty seats in the stands that blows its all yeh fault SKracing i aight hang ye arse in me ol' blarney tree yeh irish drunkenbugle

  • english?

  • yay

  • Bobby Labonte is without a doubt the cleanest driver in NASCAR.

  • Kenseth is.

  • go ask all the drivers who they think is the cleanest driver in the garage and half will say Bobby Labonte; Tell me one time Bobby spunout someone on purpose?

  • When did Kensth. Lets call it a tie

  • I'll wait on Kenseth for a few years, Bobby's reputation of racing clean is bigger than Matts

  • Yeah, true

  • but i'm not saying that Kenseth isn't a clean driver, cause he is.

  • Defenitly Burton...Bobby's better than Kenseth

  • How is Burton better than Bobby, Burton hasn't won the Brickyard or any of the big races. Plus he has no championships.

  • i was talking right now

  • Mark Martin was the cleanest driver in NASCAR history.

  • One of the greatest finishes of all time.

  • What a finish! Dale's 75th and second-to-last victory.

  • 2000 was one of the best seasons we've had all decade

  • no it wasn't 3 drivers died that year
