Hi man, many congratulations on completing your course, you look great:) I just have a query; I have cystic acne on my shoulders, similar to what you had, does accutane help lessen the redness of the "angry" looking pigmentation in the skin? And did you get any serious side effects at all? I'd really appreciate it if you replied. Thanks so much.

@ZooYorkUK thanks very much. i actually had it really bad on my sholders as well. accutane made them even more red for about a month at most, but right after that, everything was gone, there are still scars all over but the redness is gone.

the main side affects i had was the extreme dryness and depression, but it was definitely worth it, I havn't had a pimple since the end of my treatment...the doctor counted 909 on my back before the treatment...goes to show..this works. thanks for watching

@ZooYorkUK not a problem! The whole time I was on the treatment, I was roofing everyday, the sun was harsh on my skin, it made it a lot worse. I was so dry and I got sunburns so easily I had to wear long sleeves in the middle of the summer at work, it sucked aha

what kind of soap did you use during the process.. im using this transparent facial soap, but it drys my face enough as is. (like extreme) n im afraid when i start accutane next week itll dry me out even more, like dangerously. o n its fragrence free too, so i was just wanderin what you used. thanks man

@omarnwaforlife I am a roofer, so my scars faded from the sun, but it depends how your skin type is. But there is cream you can get to fade scars over a period of time, but it does take a while.

I had red marks in blotches all over my face and back. its pretty normal. the worst thing about it is the dryness. I finished MY course a year and a half ago, i have not even had a pimple since then.

My dermatologist won't give me any more accutane because he said my acne case is not severe. Sometimes I break out really bad, and I keep begging him to give me some but he always says no. I can easily handle this drug, and I am starting to think that maybe different dermatologists will help me get this. Does anyone have advice for me? I really want accutane so badly, it really helped me gain self confidence but I just want the job done.

@Randomidable I had the same problem with my first dermatologist. Try seeing a different doctor. I ended up going to a walk-in clinic on my campus, and the doctor there gave me the prescription on the spot. Bring with you a list of every acne medication you've tried previously, so the derm knows you've actually tried other methods and accutane is your last resort. Let them know your acne affects your self confidence.

My doctor refused to put me on Accutane because she suggested it was too much of a hassle. Instead she put me on Doryx, Retin-A (.1), and BenzaClin. Uhm... my face is completely clear now... Scarring is slowly healing. My back and upper chest still gets quite a bit acne, but not as much. My back is COVERED in scars. But I guess it'll be a waiting game for those to improve.

I understand your situation too, i have it this bad if not worse, i am going on Accutane tomorrow though, thank god. And believe me I have tried everything, I have it cystic so it does not go away easily at all. I have had Acne for four years. Maybe in a bout 6 months I'll be clear, for once...You were braving for hanging in there, way to go. Maybe I'll get mine too.

@firegeek22 I'm currently on 2 months, I've heavy acne for three years and im only 16. First your acne might get worse but DONT WORRY, it's all part of it. Your skin gets dry and it's not used to it thus acne breaks out. Later your skin gets used to it and u have less and less break outs. At least that's what i think. Anyways im 2 months in and i think about 50% of my acne is gone. My back is completely clearing up (minus scars) soooo im soooo happy. GOODLUCK

@firegeek22 1 thing though, if say you forget 1 day or something. DO NOT TRY AND CATCH UP ON IT by like dividing ur dose a bit higher than regular. OVERDOSE IS BAD. and even a slight overdose makes your skin start like really rashing up and drying up. :)

@colin4393 man you know what you should do is what I did. Try and get a job in the sun, like I am a roofer so therefore Im in the sun, it will make all the marks go away. Also use vitimine E Oil. I didn't get pics on the last days, it was so bad that it was impossible to lay down, 710 pimples on my back. Doctor had to count lol

know why you all are breaking out on your faces? its cause of your hair mostly. When this stupid hair style, like this guy, Goes over your forehead, the hair strands each have lots of oil in it, and when it touches your skin, it clogs your pores. Therefor, a zit occurrs. I was on 40mg the whole time too, I probly am not great to ask for improovement cause I am a roofer and Im in the sun a lot, so it tanned over my back scars. but I would say by week 14 you should be seeing great improovement and the scars will fade away.

yes you will get breakouts, I started seeing improovements in the middle of the third month which is week 14. but it did gradualy get better
