i have always been a fan of Ms. Ross and this song, the boss, No one gets the Prize and her version of I will survive always makes me wanner Dance. Such a shame that this disc was only popular in certain gay clubs of NYC, hot song indeed.
Still one of the classic Diana #1 Dance songs. I call the ad libs like electronic versions of the ad libs from "The Boss". Check out the dub on side 2. It stands alone as a great record.
I used to be a hot-mix dj from 83 to 86 in a club in northern Illinois and this was a fav of mine, along with Bobby O "I'm So Hot For You." "Let The Music Play" mixes nice with this.
@adrianwaj you're kidding, right? First off, I have YOU SPIN ME AROUND uploaded here (have you checked my list of videos?) And, two, this does NOT sound like You Spin...LOL
Why did she need "reviving?" lol. She was already huge just a year or two before. And "Missing You" was a big hit and they played it for slow dances in the clubs...
@jchahine dude, she was on "life support" by 1984 LOL Yes, she was big in 1980 with "Upside Down" and "I'm Coming Out". Oh, and ENDLESS LOVE (how can I forget that one???) but she progressively went downhill from there LOL "Missing You" wasn't *that* big, but I do like that song :)
@nazreyes a few other songs too, and a movie with Michael Jackson (if you want to cal lit a movie lol). Anyway I'm from Detroit so it's possible that she got way more airplay in her hometown, so it just seemed she was all over the radio.
@nazreyes- "life support" is pushing it. In 1984 this song, while not a massive pop hit, did reach the Top 20 on the pop chart, #3 on the R&B chart & went to #1 on the dance chart. Also "Missing You" WAS a big hit, becoming a Top 10 pop hit & going all the way to #1 on the R&B chart early in 1985. The album they both came from went Gold, selling around 800,000 copies & also had a 3rd Top 20 pop hit, "All of You". While she did run into big career problems a few years later, this wasnt that time.
@mnmcv1 LOL...yes, it IS pushilng it a bit. Reason I say that is because Diana and the Supremes was HUGE in the 60s and Diana could sell records without lifting a finger up until the 70s. By the time the early 80s came around her good songs couldn't even crack the top 10, when they should've easily gone number one! Did people get sick of Diana? I do wonder... ;)
@nazreyes LOL ok, i understand what you're saying. But to be honest, Diana solo was never really a consistently strong seller; even in the 70's it was kinda sporadic. Between 1970-1979 she had four #1 songs, but in between were many singles that failed to reach the Top 20. Her early 80's period (she had 7 Top 10 hits between 1980-1982) was probably the most consistent hit streak she enjoyed. It was in the late 80's that things REALLY started slipping. Maybe the sequins & hair just got tiresome.

If you like this song you'll like "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" from 1985.
