Its obvious the baton strikes were not working. The cops should have tazed the suspect which would have incapacitated him long enough to get him cuffed.

@Blahb27He ended up on the ground with his arms restrained so they must know what they are doing. Most officers never get their ass kicked, even one on one. Its not pretty, like on tv but the way police are taught to control people to minimize broken bones, head injuries and soft tissue damage to the suspect makes it look as though they cant fight. Police have a legal obligation not to crack skulls, bust kneecaps or beat people in areas that have fragile connective tissue

@FilthyPorchMonkey They still have them, but tazers are a more efficient non-lethal force weapon. Batons can break bones and cause permanent damage unlike tazers so they are prefered when available.

@apples871 er, theres been lots of fatalities from tazers. broken bones will heal, but getting electrocuted when your heart is already beating fast isnt exactly "non-lethal"

@Cheapshot420420 compared to how much they are used, there have not been "lots" of fatalities. SUre there have been some due to bad hearts and such, but in general tazers cause less damage than a baton. Ive been tazered before as well as maced and tear gas, but never had a full swing of a wood or metal baton but from the small hits ive had id take a tazer over any of the others.

@Cheapshot420420 And batons are meant to cause pain, thats how they work, and when someone is worked up, pain is les likely to work so have to apply even more, often causing broke bones or serious bruises. Tazers affect your nervous system making your muscles stop working so you drop, so after the power is done (5 seconds) you are just fine. except for those with bad hearts and that is an abnormality vs regularality

@xBloodXGusherx Fist can actually be considered lethal weapons. Yes 5 men would be stronger, there was only 2, 3 at the end. They repeatedly ordered him to put his hands behind his back. If he would have done what he was told, he would have escaped the "unnecessary" force. They have to react to the situation, obviously they were trying to subdue him him in any way possible. Yes it could have been excessive, but the individual should have cooperated in the first place.
