to further on your comments on the Navy SEALS. who are considered amongst the best soldiers in the world. Crossfit is now being adobted by many more Special Forces units around the world as their main form of training along with "Mil Athlete" a very similar style. so i guess if the most elite soldiers in the world are using it. you must give it merit...
the majority of people who dont like crossfit are just gym faggots that spend the whole time lookin at there muscles in the mirror. Losers!
a weightlifter has incredible strength power and speed and lacks most other physical domains. a distance runner has incredible cardiovascular/respiratory endurance and a bit of speed and agility, but again lacks most other physical domains. crossfit aims to cover all 10 physical domains therefore creating the fittest people in the world... cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, accuracy.
Why do you make such assumptions? You really think people that strength train fully commit to only one thing? It's their primary focus. I would say I focus on strength training and I can still be fairly competitive in a lot of WODs that I've never done. I do 50 burpees in 2 minutes 17, run close to a 6 min mile, a 5k in under 21 minutes, etc. If you look at some of the guys in the Crossfit gains, one could easily see some lack strength. Sub 400 lbs deadlifts for qualifiers?
Clearly iloveagoodbrew has no idea about fitness. Crossfit covers all physical domains, something any one sport doesn't do. Crossfit doesnt make people the best sportsmen in the world (that requires a specific skill to that sport), but makes the best sportsmen in the world even better. Also in reference to your comment about Vince Lombardi coaching 3 NFL winning teams, so what! any team sport almost never has exeptionaly fit people compared to individual sportsmen. they rely on other teammates
by the way, the definition of "athlete" is as follows:
a person trained or gifted in exercises or contests involving physical agility, stamina, or strength; a participant in a sport, exercise, or game requiring physical skill.
Crossfitters aren't gifted in anything except destroying the nobility of a barbell and making regular exercises such as power cleans or deadlifts look gay with their lack of strength or form.
I think it would be interesting to know how many of the best 'athletes' in the CrossFit Gaymes trained exclusively with Crossfit. Most of them seem to have been athletes from actual sports who may or may not regularly train using CrossFit WODs. Heck, they may never have done one at all...
That's funny kbconvert...Vince Lombardi has coached 3 NFL teams, winning Superbowls, training athletes, etc...
Who the fuck has Couch coached? I mean, other than Couchfit megastars presumably? Collegiate level gymNAST? Really? Which college? Any records of his exploits? Any "athletes"-Crossfitters aren't "athletes" by the way..Please, dig out the list of the fitness revolution superstars Couch has coached, besides being pro level gin swillers.
Eva was done with Olympics career for quite a few years before crossfit. BJ Penn quit Crossfit because when he was on it he lacked conditioning.
Haha, okay. How come they don't..oh, you know, compete at a REAL SPORT. If they are such amazing athletes, why not dominate the Olympics or World games? Oh that's right, the only thing they can do is some random workout. good work. I'd rather play real sports, not trying to be the best at exercising.
bj was lacking conditioning because he quit crossfit. hes with marinovich (sp?) now, and its working, so good for him. him being in bad condition while not doing the program doesnt prove anything about the program, einstein.
You pointed out BJ Penn being on Crossfit as example of Crossfit training used by good athletes, retard...Of course it doesn't prove anything. Penn quit not because Crossfit sucked at getting him prepared physically, but so that I could use him as an example on youtube comments. Makes sense. I retract my point.
any retort to the SEALs, or the rest of the olympic ski team, all of whom benefited from the training?
or the thousands upon thousands of regular people who have bettered their lives through increased fitness, which has only ever been adequately defined by the guy in this video?
Uh I thought I posted a comment about Mike Caviston who repudiated the claim that SEALs used Crossfit...apparently it didn't post..feel free to search him on the net. Caviston is an actual SEAL instructor. The rest of the Olympic ski team didn't use crossfit. Proof that they ever did? Exactly...
Fitness has been defined by Dr. Mel Siff in Supertraining. Obviously Glassman would be too busy doing shots to know.
hey, i came across a more specific answer today and thought of you.
coach glassman himself has personally coached, among others: rob miller, professional rock climber; garth miller, bjj blackbelt and multiple championship winner; mike weaver, another bjj blackbelt who has won the world cup and us open blackbelt tournaments; mary conover, not an athlete but a grandmother who wanted only to pick up her grandkids, and can now deadlift 100+lbs at age 70...

@suttoncd I will not make prejudices, but you say examples of 1 particular exercise at a time?
Are you also good in more in 1 workout? Cause that is what it makes difficult.

what's it like to be so insanely jealous of someone or some group?
better question- what makes you so awesome?
better question still- how many rounds of cindy can you complete, and whats your fran, diane, or angie time?
how fast can you run a mile or 5k, how much can you deadlift, how many pull-ups can you complete?
and IF these are not good measures of fitness, then let the almighty and wise iloveagoodbrew enlighten us as to what is.
please do teach us oh great one.

that doesnt make the slightest bit of difference regarding what he KNOWS about fitness.
youre like those housewives who go to spinning class, and if the instructor doesnt work as hard as they do, gets mad. its pathetic, really.

Coach has coached the olympic ski team, including Eva Twardoken, for one. He worked with BJ Penn for a while too.
And tell one of the CrossFit Games winners that he or she isn't an athlete, they'll do damn near anything better than you, probably everything.

crossfit is not a sports specific conditioning method, and never has claimed to be.
OH! I almost forgot, the navy SEALs are among those who follow the CrossFit protocol. But they're not athletes, just badass warriors, so nevermind.

did vince lombardi, in his coaching days, look like he could play any position on the field even on a high school team?
he was a collegiate level gymnast in the day, and he has started a fitness revolution beyond anything you could comprehend
fuck you
