  • I did like this lady's soft clear voice in showing us how to do this Provisional Cast-Ons. Now I am going to try doing it myself, and if I make a mistake will be back to watch her Video.

Thank you so much - most appreciated and yes helpful.

  • well i guess is great i kno how to knit AND crochet. and i understood and saw EVRYTHING! very helpful

  • Wow! Wish I was that fast. So fast, couldn't take it all in. Like the other comments, on my computer screen, the colours looked the same.

  • Would have been much better if she slowed down for us newbies and also used more contrasting yarns.

  • Gosh, there's no need for nasty comments. This video does go a bit fast, but for the most part, nice, concise instruction. I've been knitting for a long time so was able to figure out what was going on fairly quickly. Plus learned several new techniques as well as how I messed up the first time. Thanks!

  • Much too fast. Hopefully I will find another that instructs at a slower pace.

  • I find most of interweave videos she does as useless as expert village videos, glad none of those so called experts are my guide or teacher's/thank the knitting saints there are real teachers whom do videos that stop and think out their methods first to show us the way, instead of grabbing their 60 dollar knitting needles blab.and at times just seem to showoff..meh

  • Excellent! She does this very fluidly. Pause if you need it slowed down. This is excellent, without awkward pauses and is very professional. It was the only video I needed as a review for this technique. Thanks!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I'm working a shrug with a boucle yarn that picks up stitches for a shawl collar, and if I had to pick up all of the stitches around the edge, I might have gone mad! And thank you for showing us so many options of how to do this!

  • This is a very poor instructional video. I would expect much, much better teaching quality from Interweave. Eunny may know what she is doing but she does not communicate slowly enough or repeat the steps in a slow enough manner to follow. Recommendation, take down this video and replace it with a better production. Lucy Neatby, for example, has an excellent teaching video for the crochet provisional cast on as does "knitting help.

  • Yes, WAY too fast.

  • Girl, if you really want to teach me, why don't you do it at a pace that I can follow? Additionally, does anyone else remember the words "over", "under", "in front of", "behind", or "in back of"? These terms seem to be missing in most video explanations. Sorry, try again. I've been knitting for 40 years and cannot understand the videos or written instructions that supposed instructors are using to teach.

  • EUNNY IS VERY TALENTED A REAL PROFESSIONIST, BUT HER TUTORIALS ARE WAY TOO FAST FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO LEARN. ANYWAY SHE DIDN'T EVEN MENTION WHAT THE HELL A PROVISIONAL CAST ON IS USED FOR......SORRY EUNNY I LOVE EVERTHING YOU KNIT....THANKS ANYWAY

  • I think it was a great video. Thanks!

  • How silly to use the same colored yarn for the scrap and working yarn. That's just so silly.

  • I do not understand the last example. I thought there should be 2 strands of yarn for each method. The last example only had one strand?? Please explain in the next video. Thanks

  • @RawJewel The last one only had 1 color yarn because of how a crochet edge unravels. There is no waste yarn, you are using the crochet hook to create your CO edge with your working yarn. If you cast on with that method and then knit for a few inches, when you unraveled the CO edge, you would have live stitches on the bottom that would then be picked up with your needle and worked downward. If you try it on scrap yarn, it will make sense.

  • @bast713 I'm just seeing this - Thank You. I have a new pattern that call for this type of cast-on. I'm sure I'll play this video over and over again.

  • @RawJewel I changed yarns for the shrug I'm working, but as soon as I post pics of it I'll message you - the CO worked like a dream! If I look really close I can tell where the "seam" is, but other than that it looks great. The only tip I have is this - your first row knitting from that bottom edge down, knit through the back loop. My stitches were twisted.

  • @bast713 Thank You. I have a new pattern that calls for this type of cast-on. I'm sure I'll play this again and again. lol!

  • what brand of wooden circs are those?

  • Too fast...we wouldn't be watching if we knew how to do this!!

  • Great speaking voice however if you're looking for help, she goes WAY TOO FAST with her hands. It's obvious she is very good and knows what she is doing, but for visual learners, it's too fast. :( And if you used a red yarn for the waste yarn, it would make more sense. I'll have to go looking for other demos or visit my LYS for help.

  • too fast, girl. I'm trying to wrap my head around how it works, and the demo goes way too fast to even see what she's doing, except for the last technique. SLOW DOWN AND USE CONTRASTING COLORS FOR YOUR YARN.

  • I thought the video was really helpful, I wonder if most people realize you can stop the video anywhere you want.

  • I love the idea of using the crochet hook AND the knitting needle at the same time, but I find this a bit awkward to achieve. It makes it easier because there is no "picking up the bumps", does anyone else find it awkward to do that particular provisional cast on or is it just me? I REALLY like it though. It makes things go faster and less confusing.

  • Yeah you should've done different colors for waste and working yarn and did more than just one showing of the first cast on and gone slower. I don't like to go backward in the video to see what you did again.

  • The videos of her hands and the yarn are clear, sharp, high contrast and IN FOCUS. Thank you! However, it would be much more helpful to skip the head shots and ESPECIALLY if the waste yarn and the working yarn were very different colors. Why demo with two shades of light blue? For us beginners, we are watching this to learn, so please demonstrate s-l-o-w-l-y. v Three times as slowly as you think is slow would be excellent.

  • I hope these folks are reading these comments. That first one was done so quickly, who could get it? We're here because we don't know how to do it at all! Using the same color yarn is also not helpful. The last technique was the most helpful of the three they showed. She gets to going so fast though, I'm not sure why. We all know she knows how to do it, slow down and actually teach the rest of us.

  • Awk, Great, but I wish the yarns were more contrasting in color so I could get this.

  • Fantastic job with simple words and great visual.Thank you!

  • This lady is a psycho. She moves so fast as if the rest of us are experts.

  • I agree she need to slow down a bit. the one she did with the circular needle she did slow done a bit but not a whole lot.

  • Wow, I watched this at least 6 times. I've tried all the mentioned techniques while following her video but she moves to quickly to see the rest of her lesson. Also, she needs to show the rest of the process in detail (ie..."just pull the rest of the yarn through to have live stitches" - we need to see that happen too! Very frustrating video.

  • This was GREAT! Thank you so very much for explaining in detail the various ways of executing a Provisional Cast-on.

Through this video I understand the concept better and found the one that works best for me!

  • wtf?

  • It's great to see both the cast-on and the removal in one video for all these techniques, thank you!!

  • Is it 4 or 5 stitches, when I do it I'm only getting 4 and I only see 4 on the needle in the video.

  • i'm glad it's here but she moves her needles too fast and the camera is too far away.

  • This is so clear and easy to follow!

  • This is extremely helpful. ^_^ I'm thinking of starting a sweater that calls for a Provisional CO. I can't wait to get started now that I know what it is!
