  • Paul Waited too long!!! I bought a cricket sheath from JREindustries. Half the Price and way nice Quality. Thanks Dan @ JRE!

This knife (and Sheath) were well worth the wait and the price!.

    Thanks Adam~

  • Good video as ever!

What kinda bevel is it and how do you sharp it?

  • that is the sharpest knife ive ever seen! awesome review, im going to look into getting this. thank you for the review

    -andrew

  • wow adam you must spend your entire paycheck on gear and knives lol.

  • I think these are equivalent to barkies. Adam, try a barkie bravo-1. Those are great too!

  • I gotta say good call on Robbie's part. I was looking at his web site, and besides the OSK-1 the Big Hand Scandi is the one that caught my eye. Would love to see that knife on here. Thanks Adam.

  • Like your videos, bro (most of them, anyways) but you put too much emphasis on how smooth a knife cuts. You can put a razor edge on almost any knife with a Spyderco Knife Sharpener in about 10mins. Edge retention and steel strength is what you should be testing. How long does that edge last? Is the blade going to break in cold weather while using it for actual survival stuff? To be honest, I'd rather just drop $100 on an ESEE 5 or 6 vs. $295 on that. Put it through some Nutnfancy testing.

  • @iTek42 you're right in a way but trust me man. charlies knives are like from another universe. i've handled them, handled many other knives, own many many knives, made/customized couple of knives and i do own spyderco sharpmaker. i love it, but there is no way you can put an edge anything close to what a man can do with little skill and handsharpening. spyderco sharpmaker is great for people who dont know how to sharpen knives. it might sound mean but it is what it is. i still love it thou...

  • @iTek42 but dont think sharpmaker or any factory edge from mass produce knife can ever compare to a custom made knife from a guy like charlie may. i too think they are damn expensive, but trust me, you pay for a lot of work on a rare, amazing and outstanding knife... i like nutn, he has great knife reviews and adventures but dont think of him as a knife guru. hes doing his own thing, hes telling his opinion and experiences with the knives he picks same as adam and others do in their videos...

  • @gavkoo Oh, I know man. A custom knife will always out perform a mass produced knife (assuming the knife maker knows what he/she is doing). I was merely suggesting that he actually test the knife instead of recommending it based solely on the look and cutting potential. If he were to put that through some of the tests that Nutnfancy does and it past, I wouldn't have a problem spending $295 on it. But spending that much based on how well it cuts rope isn't going to happen. Lol

  • @iTek42 **passed***** Lol.

  • @iTek42 Yeah adam always test the knives as they should be tested. Like he said, this one is a gift for robbie and adam dont want to beat on it lol. Trust me, these knives has enormous name in the business. They just arent well know in general public. I wish i could get one myself one day. But even one small blade i love is like 200 bucks lol. One advice if i can. Not good to compare other youtubers with nutn lol. There is many that hate him all over the place so it can only bring you haters :)

  • @gavkoo Eh, I really could care less about people "hating" me. Nutnfancy was Lt. Colonel in the Air Force and knows his shit. Being a tanker in the US Army, I tend to side with him (not just because he's in the military) because I actually understand his POUs on the gear. And he is unbiased unlike a lot of gear reviewers out there that have companies send them free shit to review.

  • @iTek42 @iTek42 I like his vids myself. At least the knife and gear related and especially adventures and philosophy. Not too much into the guns since i cant have one myself in nyc lol. Yep i agree hes great reviewer. And thanks to him and others like him i dont waste money on crappy products. Thats why i like youtube. The more videos and opinions the better chance to get an idea about the item before you buy it. Thats why i started making videos too. To chip in to the database :)

  • what a beautiful knife. way out of my price range though... looking for a good, cheap, first survival knife. what do you recommend

  • @JamesBerkey esee 4 or esee 3

  • @wildernessmn would these be better then the BK2. because thats the one I've been eyeing

  • Loving the Optimus Prime in the back.

  • adam getting lost on all these steels , can you please do a vid on whats what, or if you have please send a link or the title. also whats your views on forced patinas thanks, kenny

  • WE GOT HIM OSAMA BIN LADEN IS DEAD!!!!!

  • Osama bin laden in DEAD RALLY THE MESSAGE PRONOUNCED DEAD at 10:47 Eastern P.M!!!

  • This looks VERY similar to the Ontario Hedgehog SK5.

How does this knife differ or more importantly compare to the SK5?

We haven't heard much regarding the SK5 from you..........

  • this or bk2 tough one

  • what would be your prefered thickness for the knife

  • what would be your prefered thickness

  • $300 is very reasonable for a handmade knife

  • Links in the video description are wrong Charles not chalres.

  • @happysplodie thanks, the second one works,,we will fix the other shortly.

  • I just couldn't baton with a knife like that, it would be like neutral dropping that sports car lol

  • Oh man, that Big Island Skinner is calling to me too...I'm feeling my wallet barking.

  • Different strokes for different folks. LMAO.. I have a feeling that once Robby get this we won't hear from him for a few days. I just hope that in the rush and excitement he remembers to at least take a camera and take some vid/ photo shots for us.

PS... the unedited vids are much more personable. You almost feel like your in the conversation (ok maybe i am exaggerating a little..)

  • I have 6 Charlie May knives and there all perfect. For those that don't know he is crazy about everything being perfect. This I like about the sheaths is the fact that they slid easy behind a pouch or something like it.

  • Great review of a superior knife (and knifemaker)! I read a review on these in Tactical Knives magazine, and was quite impressed...

  • @SteelUser23 I think it was featured March 2008, if Im not mistaken.

  • @OliverCanine Sounds about right. A great article by Terrill Hoffman!

  • I have a question :) With heavy use, cutting wood etc. Using it about 2 hours a day. How long would you say until it dulled to about the sharpness of an average $50 knife?

  • If Paul and Charlie made a knife/ sheath combo together...All of the bushcraft/survival world would officially be in heaven. Granted it'll probably cost about 600 bucks but geez!

  • Where can you buy the knife? I was searching the web, saw alot of forums, but no is site selling the knife. Good video. wtr7

  • @wtr7 , go to Charlie May Knives dot com!

    -Adam

  • @wtr7 just click the link in the info section under the video.

  • nice!
