  • Just Installed Red Hat 9... good ol times..

  • @danielcutler84 nope i am a kid using Archlinux (pritty hard one) but ubuntu is almost easyer than windows

  • OK so I still don't know what distro to install on my netbook! it came with Win7, and it has 2Gb and is still crap, so..

I have tried knoppix (on pc's) in the past (and loved it), and am downloading Debian live iso atm..

I know I want KDE or similar (the new Gnome stuff reminds me of win mobile/8! so no no!), and I just want to watch vids/web surf/etc. so who can recommend me a distro on that basis?

    thanks :)

  • @darkhorsedre Linux Mint 12 !!

  • @MalokeiroO Thanks man!

btw - I couldn't see mint on the comparison page I found - does it have a good package manager (fedora/debian)?

    :)

  • @darkhorsedre Mint has a good package manager.Mint are based on Ubuntu which is itself based on Debian ;)

  • @MalokeiroO Thanks! Downloading now :)

  • @MalokeiroO Mint 12 is for kids.

  • @tabarnaqdecalisse I don't think so...Mint is a distro for users with no previous Linux experience. Is both powerful and easy to use.

btw: I use Debian but i recommend Mint.

  • thanks for video

  • FreeBSD guy would have provided the details like how advanced networking features are incorporated in THE FreeBSD, it's security features, it's stablility and support of large number of users, also about it's class performance..... He would have given the example like microsoft and hotmail which is currently running on FreeBSD.... He would have informed the audience about the real fact instead of just talking about graphical interfaces... No offend but I didn't like it...

  • guy should have use arch against free bsd this would have been fair

  • @samgondal Windows 7 rules hairy donkey balls

  • @pythonVSbash Not till there is Mac OS X

  • im switching to bsd!! :D

  • FreeBSD all the way.

  • Once you learn how to use more advanced systems then you just never really want to go back to the easier ones. Free-BSD is is great and Net BSD for covering so many architectures. Linux is still great though.

  • they get Beasty and the Linux team doesn't get Tux? that's fuckin cheating.

  • @SlackintoshHD agreed the penguin even bit linus. they could have been more fair

  • 1 windows user didn't like the vid

  • @kaede15 Make that 2 LOL

  • I use linux :)

  • leo laporte ftw

  • wwwthesupergeekscom

  • OMG this is geeky :D

    I LOVE IT :D

    I use linux ;)

  • Wow, geeks :D Who uses linux anyways T_T
