yo stop hating on the exhaust. Most people just put an aftermarket one on almost every bike regardless if it's a new or used bike. I have an 09 r1 and i plan on purchasing an aftermarket exhaust. Almost bought a gsxr1000 or a zx10 and there all weak unless u throw an aftermarket exhaust on. Like let's be real rarely do people keep their stock exhausts.

@dukeofpearl well the 07 it sounds like an i-4. i personally like the sound of booming twins, the 09 r1 somewhat sounds like that with an aftermarket exhaust because of the uneven firing order and the crossplane crank(which some v8 muscle cars use) giving it that grunty sound. when i first saw the 09 i didnt like the looks either, but mostly its because of the exhaust. i would be replacing those anyway so it is actually growing on me for looks. now if you listen to the hr1 dual pipes. HOT DAMN!

You guys need to realize that motogp technology has been put into this bike. The firing times have been changed making 2 cylinders fire at the same time. That is what produces this sound, just like the M1 that Rossi and Lorenzo ride. They sound dope!!!

the only reason why i mentioned something about the sound is because ive been to motogp 3 times all of them in barcelona. motogp bikes do not sound at all like the 4 cylinder japanese bikes. this is why im saying that because of the firing order, they have been able to make the r1 sound quite close to the m1. by no means is the r1 as loud, but when paired with a race exhaust, it will sound almost like the one from AMA. when the m1 from motogp decelarates, it sounds like the new r1.

All Behold the first well known use of a cross-plane (v8 style) crankshaft on a inline four engine!!!! This gives the engine a slightly noticeable v8 rumble especially at idle. The Yamaha Factory Moto GP rides have been using cross plane cranks for four years. I think the world should ditch the flat plane crank all together! Or at least on V8 designs (ferrari)

maybe alot of things but not a desmosedici rr. its just outclassed. the desmo weighs 400 give or take wet. 181 hp to the ground and has significantly better aerodynamics. crazy ass monoblock calipers that bite like whoa and money shot tires. i love the r1 but i have ridden a desmo and an 08 r1. yes i know not 09 but the yama dealer said not really much more power. more in the delivery of the power.

the desmo kicked ass though. had to let off it was going to come up at 130 mph.

yeah i know what you mean! i was on the back of my dad's 1098 and since i race in WERA some rich investor brought his 3 desmo16RR and 2 were for racing. and the guy let everyone ride them, and this is at barber's. so i am on it going down the front straight. doing the same speed, but the torque that it has and the horse power makes you wanna piss yourself. so i had the let off. and the R1 09 now can accel quickly compared to years b4, i asked my dealer also. would i buy and r1 maybe.gonna add u.
