george kollias is the most one-dimensional drummer in the world. yes, he's fast but every fill is similar four snares, four toms etc. he is just really boring to watch.
Does anyone have a vid link where Gearge is actually playing with live musicians? preferably live? Is he actually with a band? Has anyone seen him live?
@brickceo He is with the band Nile, there is a bunch of videos of him playing live with them. I've seen George with Nile live and he is one hell of a drum machine. I also have a picture with him :3
@brickceo Search for George Kollias blasting out Annihilation of the wicked. See for yourself. And there are more videos from the same concert. But there are a lot of other videos... Just type his name and search :P
@brickceo he was (and still is) very popular in the metal community way before the drummer world started to notice him. Grab the Nile albums and prepared to be blown away.
@FeedThemCake Me personally, I think the two of them are just about eaqul. Anything George could play, Romain could play and vice versa. But again, that's my opinion
@Maledicted Yes. Nowadays, it's a contest of how many fucking cuts, zooms, dissolves you can cram into every second of film, be it an instructional video, your average, mundane episode of the Office or iCarly, or a feature film. The most that electronic editing has given us is sensory overload...
@HabAnagarek Too right, mate. I work in video advertising and you wouldn't believe how much of my time I spend hammering sense into people who think that staying on top of the trend and making a video that looks like an LSD trip is going to launch their product to the top.
Not to mention this is supposed to be an instructional video, yeah? Are we really expected to be able to follow which limb does what, at >200 BPM, when the camera angle changes every fuckin 0.4 seconds?
haha, this wasn't taken from an educational dvd, it was a tape stolen from the future, showing how the end of the world will be brought about with Kollias' drumming.
WHAAAAAAAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!?!?!?!?!?!!?!!?!?!??!!
Easily one of the top 10 best extreme metal drummers in the world. I've seen Nile live a number of times, including circa the In Their Darkened Shrines days (2003) with Tony Laureano, and while I like Tony (he's a veteran of the scene and has played with many great bands), George is just the superior drummer. He's so comfortable and laser-precise live he makes Laureano look sloppy and slow.

@Necronaut That is true, I haven't heard half the metal music out there, but if you were to take a guestimate, like I said, MOST of the time you would hear faster blasting with feet, not hands.
@Doneyear blasting is a technique that uses your hands and feet -__- just feet would be a bass roll. and most of the time i hear more hands then feet in death metal. because feet are much harder to control.
@Necronaut Well aware, but that wasn't what I was saying. Take Inferno for example, he bomb blasts alot. If I'm correct, bomb blasting is where your hand is 1/2 the speed of both of your feet. Blasts generally have faster feet, not hands. But whatever, if you've heard more hands than feet, that's cool.
@Necronaut Yes, though I'm not proficient in the Death Metal field, but I do enjoy listening to it, and I'm just making a comment that I generally hear faster feet with blasts than hands. Though, your passive aggressiveness is annoying the hell out of me.
