Along with many other people, I can relate to what you're saying in this video. Bullying, in any form, is a horrible ordeal. It can make you feel like you are worth absolutely nothing; like you're worthless and you don't deserve to be happy. It's horrible, but it's something that goes on all around us. I think the one upside of it is that, like you say, you eventually grow stronger because of it. I hope you remember that you're worthy and you don't need to feel down because of bullies again! x
i wasn't bullied when i was in school, but i was stalked by a psychotic boy in middle and high school, right into college. living with that kind of terror on a daily basis is enough to scar a person for life, and truthfully, i am JUST dealing with it… and somedays i have to go on a joke website to make it through the day… i really appreciate this video, i am so happy that someone has addressed the issue of abuse, be it bullying or stalking of any kind. blessings <3

i love this video. iv'e been through a pretty tough time. my dad died when i was 6weeks old and in primary kids used to bully me for that. unbelievable right. i think its sick. this is sending such a positive message to so many people. i think your really inspiring :)

Beautiful video. I can relate as well, because I was bullied and teased in school because I was fairly overweight. Mostly it was boys who would laugh at me when I came in to school or would call me a whale or make fake advances at me, and I would go home in tears. But you know, these experiences help to shape us and make us empathetic to others. I am a stronger person and love to help my friends, and I am happy now regardless of of bullies. We are all amazing, and don't let others bring you down
I'm always bullied, because of my curly, fizzy, huge hair..... but I don't pay attention to anyone, I try to change it, I use some hair products to ram my hair, a year ago I even straightened with iron, but it looked worse, so I didn't go to school, and when you almost started crying, I started it..... thanks for this video.... :)
but one thing: we tend to call everyone who doesn't like us/the things we do haters. Not liking you doesnt make me a hater, after all it's my perception of you that decides whether i like you or not. & if my opinion of you isn't a good one, then i dont have to like you.

im 13 years and i was bullied in elemenrty school from 3rd to 6th grade it was a really hard time for me and at the time i didnt want to live anymore but when i got out of elementry school things changed looking back it made me who i am and i dont regret it at all . i thank the people that bullied me because it makes me who i am :) thank you for sharing!

Ive only been bullied once by someone who I thought was my friend...until I finally confronted her. *I dont condone violence* but I beat her up then she wanted to be my friend again. I never talked to her again...even when we went to middle school and she was being bullied. She tried to befriend me on FB last year and I denied it. I was bullied too while in 2nd grade. It was difficult esp. b/c there was no valid reason for it as you said. It usually stems from smthing neg. going on with the 1 bullying. I was very quiet and shy. All I can say is that that young lady is lucky I wasn't the person then that I am now b/c bullying never would've happened. My son is 8 and he's having difficulty with a kid messing w him too. So, it's definitely common but very unfortunate for anyone dealing with it.

I started off happy also, I'm a shy, reserved person but people will be mean as long as they see that it affects you, and that's what happened to me, to the point where I couldn't leave the house, I was just paranoid, had to drop out etc was forced by my family to see a doctor and now have to take medication to try not to revert my mind back to those bad times. And even now I'm still learning to love myself and realising that I can be happy if I want to be X
everything u say is true. i was picked on from 5th to 9th grade. these people brought my whole image down. I even had to go to therapy, i felt so much better when i had someone to talk to, sometimes i think i wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for my therapist Sonia. In all i know im more stronger and confident than before.

I was bullied so much i moved schools and then got bullied even more, now i go to college and its so much better and i learnt to express myself through art but it brought my grades down so low in my other subjects :/

my little cousin is now being bullied in school she is 9, she was crying about it one day and i told her ‘it’s ok, i used to be bullied too’ and tried to give her some advice. she then asked me ‘but why is it that the girls that should be nice are mean?’ i had NO reply, to this day like you said i have no idea why i was picked on and i can’t think why children can be so mean to one another. it was heart breaking to not be able to answer. i can only hope she one day grows strong from it all.

Great video. Wonderful advice. It is always best to tell a loved one/or close who will be there and uplift you when others try to bring you down. And in most cases when someone is always trying to belittle or bully others they usually have an internal conflict of their own.

parents and older siblings shoud be accountable for bulling. I really wished that popular youtubers would stress that issue. When you talk to your child, teach him that bulling is ugly not, right much of bullying would go down a great deal. I was raised in Guinee and if u were trying to bully someone in school everybody would go down on you ....tell you that you are wrong and need to stop that ugly attitude right there..i feel like in many countries people are lacking in that department...

In elementary I was a bully. More physically than emotionally though. (not that either is better or worse) and now that i've calmed down and seen what i could have done if i would have continued to pick on people i realize how aweful it was. I'm so sorry, and it's not fair and i was being aweful. Now i'm in High school and i refuse to put up with bullying. Beautiful video. I can relate as well, because I was bullied and teased in school because I was fairly overweight. Mostly it was boys who would laugh at me when I came in to school or would call me a whale or make fake advances at me, and I would go home in tears. But you know, these experiences help to shape us and make us empathetic to others. I am a stronger person and love to help my friends, and I am happy now regardless of of bullies. We are all amazing, and don't let others bring you down

I'm always bullied, because of my curly, fizzy, huge hair..... but I don't pay attention to anyone, I try to change it, I use some hair products to ram my hair, a year ago I even straightened with iron, but it looked worse, so I didn't go to school, and when you almost started crying, I started it..... thanks for this video.... :)

However, if negative opinions about my personal appearance are expressed, I believe that is Hate (Contrary to Love, which are positive opinions.).
A hater is a hater, whether they express opinions or not.

I went to two different high schools so i really didn't get bullied much just a couple of stupid rumors (still don't know who the hell started 'em but their attempts failed nonetheless) but I have known others who were and have seen enough tv/news about the effects it has (plus i was a psych major in college). Nice video. Im glad you shared your story. Ive only been bullied once by someone who I thought was my friend...until I finally confronted her. *I dont condone violence* but I beat her up then she wanted to be my friend again. I never talked to her again...even when we went to middle school and she was being bullied. She tried to befriend me on FB last year and I denied it. Ppl who bully have issues going on with themselves. If you are being bullied PLEASE TALK TO SOMEONE.Things will get better!

But I did exactly as you said back then, concentrated on making myself a better person and now the people who used to bully me look at me now and are amazed at the beautiful person (inside and out) that I've become!! I was bullied too while in 2nd grade. It was difficult esp. b/c there was no valid reason for it as you said. It usually stems from smthing neg. going on with the 1 bullying. I was very quiet and shy. All I can say is that that young lady is lucky I wasn't the person then that I am now b/c bullying never would've happened. My son is 8 and he's having difficulty with a kid messing w him too. So, it's definitely common but very unfortunate for anyone dealing with it.

I started off happy also, I'm a shy, reserved person but people will be mean as long as they see that it affects you, and that's what happened to me, to the point where I couldn't leave the house, I was just paranoid, had to drop out etc was forced by my family to see a doctor and now have to take medication to try not to revert my mind back to those bad times. everything u say is true. i was picked on from 5th to 9th grade. these people brought my whole image down. I even had to go to therapy, i felt so much better when i had someone to talk to, sometimes i think i wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for my therapist Sonia. my little cousin is now being bullied in school she is 9, she was crying about it one day and i told her ‘it’s ok, i used to be bullied too’ and tried to give her some advice. she then asked me ‘but why is it that the girls that should be nice are mean?’ i had NO reply, to this day like you said i have no idea why i was picked on and i can’t think why children can be so mean to one another. it was heart breaking to not be able to answer. i can only hope she one day grows strong from it all.

parents and older siblings shoud be accountable for bulling. I really wished that popular youtubers would stress that issue. When you talk to your child, teach him that bulling is ugly not, right much of bullying would go down a great deal. I was raised in Guinee and if u were trying to bully someone in school everybody would go down on you ....tell you that you are wrong and need to stop that ugly attitude right there..i feel like in many countries people are lacking in that department...

Shirley thank you for sharing this. I know what you mean. I was bullied in middle school everyday and some part of high school. I always felt different and out of place. Now I have learned so much about myself and others. Thank you for sharing you story. I can really relate.

5 people still haven't learned that being mean isn't funny or cool. i pity people who need to sit behind a computer screen and put down someone else, for no other reason than to make themselves feel better. it's quite pathetic, really. the dislike button isn't meant for insulting someone. you're so inspiring, shirley, and i love you even more for encouraging us to be ourselves. you're very brave.

In elementary I was a bully. More physically than emotionally though. (not that either is better or worse) and now that i've calmed down and seen what i could have done if i would have continued to pick on people i realize how aweful it was. I'm so sorry, and it's not fair and i was being aweful. Now i'm in High school and i refuse to put up with bullying. I'll defend victims to the end... but i just wanted to apologize to everyone who's had to deal with a bully, like me. and I'm just so sorry

i think hurt people... hurt people. so often i feel bad for bullies because they are not happy people and hurt deep down. You are lovely, I am glad you perservered and did not let them break you down!
