@MRanarchy90 I looked into it a bit, just consider it like u.s. special forces, meaning, study big time so you can score well, wouldn't hurt to study some french for at least 4 months with a tutor of some sorts, be physically fit, stay sharp, and be disciplined, sounds easier then it actually is, joining is go to france, say 2nd rep, take the tests, watch your mouth, survive training, and they'll either send you there if you have done well, or just send you to another unit
@MRanarchy90 to add on, 2nd rep is basically special forces, I've trained with u.s. special forces and guys who became special forces in a program called sea cadets, great guys but its a shark tank always trying to top each other, fierce competition if you show any sign of weakness you loss their respect quickly. 1 training had 500 people apply, only 25 were accepted, including me, I had gone to another elite training b4 lots of exp, 2nd in command of my unit, that was Sea cadets. 2nd rep harder

America has good special ops soldier. Don' forget the rangers, SEALs, SF, SFO-D, ect. Also Iwould say you could compare America army to any european army, American marine coe to any european marines. Just because we have many unfortunate cases of friendly fire does not mean we ain;t well trained, we just can not always tell friendly positions from hostile positions 33,000 feet in the air.
Europe simply just have the best elite infrantry, paratroopers, and special forces. I would compare our armies to any regiment in the USA. Rather quality than quantity.

Ive always toyed with the idea of the legion (like many young men) as if you join the Brit military I dont think you get much to show for it in terms of how it benefits your life. France is a better country to serve and live in, but your probably right that the British forces are better in terms of performance and training.

@HortonofDOOM I beg to differ. I served in the Foreign Legion for 5 years, of which 4 in 2 REP. I went into action with them ( against the Libyans, in Tchad ).They are overrated, and most of their legend is self-created. Other elite units, e.g. the Dutch Marines or the Norvegian Marinejaeger, are way better.

For your info guys that think special forces are in better shape then those guys. Well your wrong there, when they trained with the airborne rangers, rangers didn't stand a chance against their shape. There is a opstical that the Legion did in 40 min ans U.S special forces did in 5-6 hours... See you guys in 1 year!

I red an article about Foreign Legion during first war in Iraq. One of the legioners said that Americans have better equipment and they were jalous about It .What a losers ,I thought. Two years ago I red a a book about British who was in Legion. He had a task. Prepare a trap for a convoy. He had got 2 antitank mines for it. I'm not legionnaire, but as in any other Armed Forces, there should be a time of waiting if you dont qualify the first time. I tried joining the Army in Mexico where I used to live, and the the first time they rejected me for having a painful ankle, but once I got better I tried and they accepted me.
Go to the FFL website and read the FAQ for more details.
After castelnaudary, you will be sent to a FFL regiment for a certain amount of time and only after you can apply for 2REP...if you wish to have "fun". lol

@michaeldoit So you did you take up the offer of French citizenship or not? Ive always toyed with the idea of the legion (like many young men) as if you join the Brit military I dont think you get much to show for it in terms of how it benefits your life. France is a better country to serve and live in, but your probably right that the British forces are better in terms of performance and training.

C'est la premiere masse de militaires qui sont envoye dans un conflict,apres quand c'est tout bien, i'll sont encore une fois neglijables, des fus, connards sans de droits. @HortonofDOOM I beg to differ. I served in the Foreign Legion for 5 years, of which 4 in 2 REP. I went into action with them ( against the Libyans, in Tchad ).They are overrated, and most of their legend is self-created. Other elite units, e.g. the Dutch Marines or the Norvegian Marinejaeger, are way better.

For your info guys that think special forces are in better shape then those guys. Well your wrong there, when they trained with the airborne rangers, rangers didn't stand a chance against their shape. There is a opstical that the Legion did in 40 min ans U.S special forces did in 5-6 hours... See you guys in 1 year!

If you have a Crime Register Log in your Bio , they will send you home. If you run away from your past,they will propably send you home too..because they need guys who come from all over the Planet to server in the FL. I know a couple of one who served in German SF units,and now they are in the FL

All I wanted to do would be to serve the Legion. In Hungary, the Hungarian Army recruiter's office refused to volunteer because I wore glasses. Yes I am. But anyway my sight is fine. The square is also a good sight. Excellently using weapons ..........

I red an article about Foreign Legion during first war in Iraq. One of the legioners said that Americans have better equipment and they were jalous about It .What a losers ,I thought. Two years ago I red a a book about British who was in Legion. He had a task. Prepare a trap for a convoy. He had got 2 antitank mines for it. He took the explosive material from the mines, steel junk and made a better boom than the mines. I was fu**ing wrong. Those guys can do something from nothing

France are more great Special Forces but not the FFL who is an "Assault Force"
Sometime the soldiers of the Special Forces can to come from the FFL like from all French Forces but in a little part because the FFL is one little part of the French Army quite simply
Even if it's the most famous for the foreigners
thus if you want compare an Special Force with a French Special Force dont do that with the FFL, unscholar kids

I, for example, know we owe our independence to France. I know France lost approximately 2,000,000 men in WW1 and the U.S. about 1000,000. And I certainly know that the Flanders campaign of 1940 was not the defining moment in French military history. My countrymen who don't know these things aren't bad - just ignorant.

@cumbas that was just a typo error about U.S. casualties in WW1. I know France lost more men at Verdun than we did in the entire war. But without U.S. intervention in 1917 it probably would not have been enough. Also, I think it's sad that the Hero of Verdun (Gen. Petain) wound up a Nazi collaborator.

I'm not legionnaire, but as in any other Armed Forces, there should be a time of waiting if you dont qualify the first time. I tried joining the Army in Mexico where I used to live, and the the first time they rejected me for having a painful ankle, but once I got better I tried and they accepted me.
Go to the FFL website and read the FAQ for more details.
