gee, do you think this guy even listens to his own words? using massachusetts and california as examples of states who could lead the country to socialized medicine???
I'd love to see a Canadian model... universal health care. His facts (mostly timelines) are inaccurate... google "Tommy Douglas" or "Saskatchewan Doctor's Strike" to get more info.
This would only prevent the "competition" everyone claims will make healthcare cheaper. If it is state lever you will be limited to only providers in that state.
What? Why would that be BAD? The would be just like the Canadian system. You can find more people that like it but say it needs improvements, along with people that say it sucks, but the majority love it and wouldn't trade it for ours, in fact nobody would trade their system for ours, so how great is our system again???
Canadian system? This is your example? Ok what ever you say. I do think we need cross state health choices. To me this would be all the competition you would need. Government is not a competitor it is a conglomerate.
Hold on a second, you wouldn't pay taxes on healthcare in your State if you have Single Payer. You would still pay into SS and some would be taken out of your checks for Medicare, but this would be 90% cheaper than anything you could find in the private sector that you won't care about how much is cost. Unless you fully understand how it works don't comment on it please, I have spent much time in Germany and its better than ours too...
@dj4monie neither germany nor canada are nations known for their criminal or freeloader cultures. can you imagine the waiting rooms filled with refuse-to-work types with nothing better to do than suck up the limited resources of a single-payer system?
You can believe what you will. In the interim, I will go to my H1N1 steering committee meeting tomorrow, and then to the installation overview meeting for switching out our disposable Coviden needleboxes for the new Stericycle/Biosystems reusable boxes. An important green initiative for us. And then I will try again to get N95 and PAPR supplies that are currently on backorder, worldwide.
You can buy used copies of my book on Amazon for 15 cents - a real ego booster.
The posts here prove that there are a bunch of really ignorant people in this country, who have no frickin clue how healthcare works. I am in management of a very large, urban hospital that is chartered to provide care to even the undocumented. This guy is sharp. If you aren't paying attention to him, you're a fool.
This started WAY before yours or mine time, it was said years ago that we as citizens were an "inconvenience" at best. If you have a smart, educated electorate 90% of the nonsense that goes on in Government wouldn't happen. But we have largely stupid electorate and people like Michelle Bachmann and George W Bush get into office.
I love the way this guys talks about "believing in universal coverage" as though it's something to give belief too, that the government can wave a wand and poof - give everyone a new right.
Most of those against involuntary healthcare won't respond here.
They'll just vote against it.
I'm always surprised when I go online. It's like one big circle jerk of online geeks who don't understand why there's any trouble passing healthcare reform. They're confused because EVERYONE they know agrees with it.
Well...If everyone you know is on the internets (a series of tubes), then you need to get out more.
What's going to give to pay for this? Massive DOD budget cuts at a time of war?
Government's don't run things more efficiently than private corporations. If costs are high because of malfeasance by the health care industry, let's see some proof.
America will be able to brag to other industrialized countries by showing the increased number of insured Americans, but how will this not affect the quality of health care?
The United States is already in such great debt. How do you say, "My quality of health care hurts" in Chinese? Cubans supposedly have a good health care system. Too bad their quality of life sucks.
I think it is time for the real left wings starts to shout a little louder. We don't see this kind of free healthcare's advocate on the main stream media.
lets try 7 or 8 different things is what he is saying lol its all made up shit as we go along no reality to any thing any of them say in less you believe in it by pure stupidity and ignorance demoralized or retarded or you just dont give a fuck.
they dont want to lose their fake ass jobs in making shit up and changing perspectives AND KEEPING YOU IN FEAR OF LOSING CABLE TV!!! YOUR CARS THAT GO VROOM SO YOU CAN BE SOME BODY WITH AN EDUCATION TO CHANGE THE WORLD... BACK MAIL THE WORLD
Healthy San Francisco, although not perfect, WORKS. I had friends on it, others are no longer on it as they chose their employer-based insurance, other stayed with Healthy San Francisco.
I say if the Federal Government can't, the states can. California should take a serious look at Healthy San Francisco.
Americans doesn't even know what the word "socialist" means. But then again, they haven't figured out that being liberal means that you stand for democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and a free and open market.
Be honest, in this political climate does anyone believe that saying a socialist in Canada brought about national healthcare is going to do anything but scare the average American? Saying socialist now is akin to cursing someone. The right has so totally dominated the "debate" that this would help their cause.
Maybe the average American needs to evaluate an idea on its own merits, not shut off their brain every time somebody uses the keyword "socialism."
Seriously. Think about it. If some alien invader used brain worms to make half our populace so amazingly stupid that they'd stop thinking whenever anybody says "urgleburgle," we'd all be seething for the blood of those responsible.
Why do we bow down and meekly obey the media forces who have done exactly the same thing to us, minus the brain worms?

So my SS tax would go up ten fold? That sounds like a heck of a deal. Try reading some facts before posting.

What a fraud. You are by no stretch of the imagination a manager of a metropolitan hospital judging from your communication style.
MrDoggity 1, you are better described as a "frickin fool," who has little to no insight about health care.
Don't waste our time.

Socialism is justice in practice, not just in words. Universal healthcare is a good example of this.
blackiron60 2 years ago
What is justice, outside of context, but an excuse to abuse and attack?

Should Healthcare Reform Begin at State Level ?, yes....
Force the lobbyist to broaden the pay-offs and mess with the DC Belt insiders .
ubuibiok 2 years ago
This is a reasonable argument. I'm afraid of what the poorer states will create though... what do they have to work with, after all, in this economy?

@GeminiPrimeX Unfortunately the Republicans and the business tycoons of health are misusing the word and the ligand are the new health system.

Just out of curiosity, why do you vilify the "average American" as "amazingly stupid" whenever said individual is opposed to socialism?
Mastikator 2 years ago
Well, the average American thinks that just because Germany has universal health care, it is "socialism".
And yes, *that* is stupid and moronic and idiotic.
sudhisira 2 years ago
Mastikator, you seem confused. I've never said anything remotely resembling what you claim I said.
Many intelligent people are opposed to socialism. I've never vilified them.
The "amazingly stupid" response is to blindly oppose every idea falsely labeled as "socialism" by factions who actively seek to deceive the public.
If you read more carefully, you might get a more accurate understanding of what I said.
kevintype 2 years ago
Eh, I suppose it's true. These said factions usually are just happy with fascism.
