Regarding my teachers and professors, I was always "a million miles away" during their classes or lectures respectively. But I still, somehow, imprinted the reverb of what they actually wanted to convey upon us.
And this song brings me back to the mindset that, finally, lead me thorugh their classes/lectures, and now reminds me of (every single day I earn mine and other's living) the fact that they were, are, and will be absolutely great!
my 2 Lp album sleeves don't reveal (or jackets ftm) who of John Woloschuk, Dee Long or Terry Draper do what parts in the band .. the internet is a powerful force .. your answer will come
That is pretty well right for most of the songs....this tune featured live strings....I was lucky enough to be in the studio for a part of the recording of this album.
Hey Muchacho's: A great band is a great band no matter how you slice it. Even the Beatles have their influences including the Isley Brothers and Chuck Berry. To me Klaatu has very much their own sound and deserve recognition for their many albums and longevity. 30 years after their music hit the market, we are still listening and appreciating it. ( Health, Prosperity and Happiness )
Fuck the Beatles. They were great, no doubt about it, but Klaatu was a great unique and talented band with a range of influences from Sweet, T-Rex, Bowie, and a lot of other groups. Those who got turned on to them got to enjoy some great music, those who didn't missed out.
New conspiracy theory: You know how drastically the Beatles style changed before and after "Rubber Soul". Well, my theory is that they heard Klaatu, an unknown garage band at the time, and liked the sound so much that they copied it as their own!! Of course people thought Klaatu ripped the Beatles off when in reality it was the other way around. Lennon admitted he copied guitar riffs, chords, phrases and stuff when writing some of his songs. Klaatu should get some royalties from the fab four!!
I've LOVED this band since the Eight grade '81 when i first heard them. Beatles...sure they sound like the Beatles. I'f it were a crime,MANY bands would be on the chopping block! Maybe gen is upset they do it so well? I sure wish i could find "Around the Universe in 80 Days"
Another underrated group, definitely one of my favorites! It's a shame they got tagged as Beatle-ish...in many ways, they were ahead of their time, to be sure!
I don't think you really have a clue of what you are talking about. Have you been listening to any of todays groups and hear the repetition?? Sure they may have some quality of the Beatles, but then again who doesn't copy some style or another. I believe that Klaatu still had their own unique sound. Go back and have a good listen and open up your mind.
Klaatu had one of the most original sounds ever,I think, but I must say that in the Beatles absence,Klaatu fit in there just right.........I still play their music today.Love the first album the most..........
Yes, everyone did think they were the Beatles reunited. I think that they have their own unique style. Being married to the leader of the group back in the 70's, it was alot of fun in the studio listening to them record. Also going to visit my husband John in California at the Capitol Records studios to do their "Endangered Species" album.
Good song. A lot of people actualy thought that they were the Beatles even though they sound nothing like them to me. They do sound a little like the stuff McCartney was doing in the seventies though.
Finally some one can hear that Klaatu don't sound like the Beatles. I think people hear them as Beatles because they got run over by the Klaatu/Beatles hype. But Klaatu is a great band I must say.
Dear generic53, have you heard of a group called The Dream Academy? Their song "Life in a Northern Town" in particular. Have a listen to see who they sound like to you. Then let me know.
Yes, you do keep saying that...you sound like a broken record, skipping to that tired, worn out groove over and over and over and over and over... Tell you what, go listen to California Jam, True Life Hero, Anus of Uranus, and the Sir Army Suit album and tell me that sounds like the Beatles. FYI, when Klaatu debuted, the Beatles had already called it quits...AND you don't see anyone saying that any 1 of a 1000 bands were a ripoff of The Yardbirds, do you? It's called INFLUENCE! Look it up!
I'd even bet, that it was because of one-thought boobs like yourself, perpetuating that stupid belief that prevented Klaatu from getting any airplay on the radio stations!! God knows, the airwaves would have been a much more enjoyable place without the likes of Meatwood Flack, Survivor, Spruce Dingsteen and all that other musical pablum dished out to the masses in the late 70s to early 80s!! It's not easy being a visionary...you go Viv! They were fantastic!
Lol, well put. Never saw the appeal of "Dingsteen" and the other 3 chord wonders of the day. Klaatu dared to imagine. I can hear the Beatles influence, but they were that and much more. And they did it without George Martin!
Nice work........John esta afonico hahahaha

Never say fuck the Beatles. Klaatu merely capitalized on the Beatle hype. However I too did enjoy the fantasy.
