This is phenomenal solo work. Elaborate guitar solos used to be a staple of rock music, and now they are virtually nonexistent in mainstream music. Simpletons, nowadays, don't have the attention span to enjoy such richly textured and wonderfully melodic expressions of virtuosity. Now, if the music doesn't come with a repetitive beat, and an idiot who raps in order to mangle the English language, people won't even listen to it. Reduction in musical complexity parallels intellectual decline.

It became Gary Moore´s standard guitar solo. In the early eighties he played a much better guitar solo called "White Knuckles". You are right, he was faster and technically better in the eighties than he is now. Especially in the early eighties he was able to play 20 notes per second without sweeping or tapping. But he is still a great guitarist..............
