@23aprilmay that's your interpertation. It can be about adoption or giving up love. First time I heard this song, it completely hit home. I said goodbye to who I always thought I should be with.  Life went on & so did his. And too this day, this song still speaks to me about him.

this song is so awesome because it can be interpreted in many different ways. It can be about a lost love or it could also be about an abortion or giving up a child for adoption. "lost standing alone, nothing i could give to you. I tried, I really did but I couldn't find another way." and also: "I am forever changed by someone I never knew."
