Very safe overall. BA is still a huge city, so one has to be aware of their surrounding. I feel safer here than I did when I lived in Los Angeles or when I visit NYC, much less violent crime here. Direct flights from US: Miami 8 hours, Dallas 10 hours, NYC 11.5 hours, all overnight so you can sleep most of the way.
Buenos Aires safe?
