really clever...i just love card tricks that are all based on mathematics...so much more entertaining to figure out how it works than some sleight of hand, thanks for posting....i am off to 'trick' the kids into thinking i'm magic!!!
I don't get this trick. I've known it for years, and no matter how I shuffle the deck or if I shuffle at all, the cards show up last! How does this work!?

Sorry, this is lame. The 3 cards are still at positions 11, 27, and 43 from the bottom! The cards were never mixed up. You could just have counted out the cards. The "trick" is no different than if I deal 2 piles of 10 cards and 41 cards and asked you to put your card on the deck of 10. Then you can put all the cards you want from other deck on top of your card. I just end up putting the others on top anyways. No matter what I do, your card is still 11th from bottom. Use your brains people.

the audience member thinks that by putting any amount of cards on top of their card, that it actually changes the position of their card in the deck. it doesn't, because all three piles are put on top of eachother. therefore, you know that the first card is 10 cards from the bottom, then second card is 15 cards from the first card, and the third card is 15 cards from the second card. the whole thing at the end with dealing one face up, one face down, etc.., is just a cover up as well
Why not just deal 14 cards into the first pile? That way you avoid having to move 4 cards from the top to the bottom, and that way you don't have to think of any excuse for doing that if an audience member notices.
does anyone notice that he does two face ups the first time he does face up face down decks? when hes talking about jokes?

When you were dealing the face downs into a pile, you probably dealt one or two cards out of order, which could mess up the entire trick

no bicycle cards are just good for texture and i guess more common. For this trick I doubt you need, but its nice to use bicycles for all card tricks
