This game was never released for home use it was for arcade machines, however Sonic Gems collection does allow you to play this game.

Alright, for all the confused people: There are seven chaos emeralds in most sonic games.

There are 8 chaos emeralds in this game, likely because of the number of characters you must fight.

There are 15 chaos emeralds in Sonic 3 and Knuckles, 7 from Sonic 3, 7 from Sonic in Knuckles, and the master emerald.

There are 9 DIFFERENT chaos emeralds, not seven because of two colors (I forget which ones) that alternate and then the master emerald.

actually its 7 chaos emeralds, then when u get sonic 3 & knuckles the chaos emeralds turn into the super emeralds and then the master emarld is there.

A main is what you use the most, I.E. I'm a Sonic mainer in Brawl.

I have the GameCube version of Sonic Gems, and the sequences seemed different for some reason, that's all. :)
