  • Why not drop them a line and ask. beenquiries@unsw.edu.au

  • do u have to be good at drawing to have this job

  • worth watching video.

  • yes true that architecture is such a stressful course but it is one of the most rewarding course and job ever.

  • Wow. This is so nice. This course is so interesting.

  • There's a fair bit of info about that on the Built Environment website and there are Utzon talks about various aspects of architecture. Have a scout around in the UNSW channel.

  • I am very interested in architecture and would love to find a great career in the field.

  • BUDDY THIs made me interested in studying architecture aLong with other stuff,i have to retake design 1 cause i FAILED,even working all the day i cant get done what the teachers tell me to do,its so fucking annoying,i hope i can get this through, even worst my parents dont know i failed in that subject, its the worst of all,if you fail once you dont have the chance to recover like in the other subjects

    GOOOOD WHY?

  • Seattle Central Library, (the abstract glass

building at the very beginning) is a really neat building, and was designed with each floor having a different color scheme to strike a different emotional theme on every floor.

  • Do you have to be good at drawing to study architecture/become an architect?

  • @Strang3rDanger its good if u've some drawing skills...it can help...but even if u aren't ...it doesn't matter ... u needs skills to get ur point across ...for representation..be it drawing or computer or whatever...

  • @Strang3rDanger

It's interesting, good powers of observation and an understanding of geometry are needed in architecture - if you have those abilities now, I would bet that you can draw well enough already. Most any skill can be improved w/ study & practice.

  • So, this is what I've taken away from the video:

    1) You do the same five years of study that should give you a bachelor's degree, but you get a master's instead! Whoo-hoo!

    2) You don't need to memorize "facts" or take pesky "tests".

    3) You get to play video games, like Unreal Tournament and Half-Life 2!

    4) You can create a blue-glowing cube, which is just like a box, but it glows! Now that's architecture!

It looks like I won't have to work hard! Where do I sign up?!

  • @Rationalific lack of sleep will be a regular thing...in ur 3rd year onwards u'll feel blessed to get a 6hr sleep...once or twice a week...

  • Cut And Paste this to every youtube video.

Watch HOWTOARCHITECT for great lessons on how to be an architect.

    The best Architect ever!!!!

  • the best architect?? u should quit watching youtube... seriously..

i just hate the fact that u spamming...

  • Urgh, first time I have found spam to be useful to me.

  • @P4RK3R172839 the fuck is wrong with you..

  • jus a question to those architecture undergrad or post grads out there.. the calculations for the structural part, is differentiation and integration etc. involved ?

  • I am studying undergraduate. there are some structural subjects but they dont have a tough maths it is just rules and using simple methods .. but the use of differentiation and integration is rare

  • im doing architecture for collage if anyone else is doing it i have two clear question (i) is it worth it (ii) how and why?

  • i did the corse in 5 years with first class honours with not one all nighter

  • mercuryflash11, You are a genius! How did you do it! What did you know or do that everyone else misses?

  • time management and good family support

scored 89 percent on final presentation

you cannot do too much study at architecture school. but there is no need for all nighters

  • Brhyetoo, thanks for the reply. I take it that you made it through school in a similar timeframe and level of success as mercuryflash11. That's a great achievement. Congratulations! You have an amazing intellect & self control.

I just did an all-nighter on a job because my time management skills include watching a bit of telly, then some YouTube, then open the drawing, read some e-mail...

You get the idea. : } I think I'm going to bed now! Hahah

  • I like that.

Let me show my friend Cept this comment

  • hi guys out there! I would like to know if somebody knows about a martial arts school (Academy) that has been recently built, I would like some advices snce I have an assingment in my school about designing a martial arts school. google is not a good answer at all. xD

  • where is this collage,i mean what country and city ?

  • sydney australia

  • i'd go here for my masterals! its cool

  • Im in year 10 and im seriously considering architecture for my future profession but i don't know any architects and i dont have any one to ask questions!! If you guys could help me out i'd really appreciate it.

    1) What subjects should i take for my HSC that will be useful for the actual degree?

    2) Is it a mathematical degree? (I don't mind maths and i luv art and design! I figured this would be heavily an engineering degree, is it?)

    3) What job oppertunities does it provide?

    thanks!

  • I'm in first year architecture at UNSW so here's my opinion:

    1) Design + Tech: extra UAI points towards this degree with HSC Plus (if you do well). I did Yr9-11 D+T; the skills you take with you are the development of your 'process' and 'folio presentation'.

Art: there is a LOT of drawing involved in architecture, but you don't need to do HSC Art; you can draw anytime you want! It helps to be able to express what is in your head with a pen.

I've run out of space, so you can msg me =)

  • I am a post grad architecture student here under the new 3 plus 2 program.

    1. I am an international student so I can't say.

    2. first year to second year is number crunching driven. You don't need to be a rocket scientest but you need a lot of time to learn the calculations. Trusses are not fun!!!!!

    3. This university is really good. Once you graduate here, you can be a computer science architect, interior, or just an architect.

I wish I could write more.... so send me a message.

  • thanks, that actually helps heaps!! its really nice 2 hear from sum1 whoose actually doing the degree. I forgot 2 ask the most important question though, do you like it? XD

  • I love the degree. Think of it as American idol on extreme mode. You have 150 students, 50 to 70 graduate. 10 become licenced registered architects. But your imagination is your limitation. 3rd year to final year is tough. You better learn to have thick skin or the tutors will eat you. Any idea is good but an excellent idea has supporting information.

learn auto cad, revit, or some software. it is needed for surival here.

  • wow, im all up for the challenge, why the low success rate though? Does the diffuculty of the degree force people to drop out? -sorry about all the questions, your great to talk 2

  • I'm looking forward....to study this ....i so want to study it...

  • This could be interesting!

  • I love how they 'forgot' to mention that if you study architecture you will spend all night in the studio and have to pull several all nighters before crits.

  • @Kawine86

also forgot to mention that the red centre is the only building that's open 24/7 just for that reason

  • I so want to do this course

  • I love Connie! She's a star!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • interesting
