@jdouglasfisher I think you can only patent an invention. but designs are protected by copywrite (somewhat) simply by showing this video of it's inception is proof that I was the original creator. there's another video uploading right now of unboxing and setting up the finished product should be uploaded in a couple hours....and it works and looks awesome!!
Just recently been following your channel, and I have to say, Great little design you have there!! Perfect market as well. There are almost no real options for urban and even suburban newbies wanting to get into this. Most people that don't have the room or opportunity to use a more traditional forge also don't have the "shop" to build their own, the market has greatly neglected to attract this customer base, and you've hit the nail on the head! I love it!
By golly I think you've got it! No I wouldnt paint it, maybe just suggest what type of paint to use, stove paint, high temp paint ect. and let it go at that. If a person wanted to line this with a refractory what would you suggest?
would this be a good starter forge for a noob? ive seen forges on amazon for like 1000 bucks and theres noway in hell i could afford that.also can these be setup as a propane forge?
@EtownMurderJunkie yes, it is designed for beginners, farriers and folks heating small things like knifves or small bars it cannot burn propane. but will work on coal (ideal), charcoal, and maybe some small hardwood pieces, but that is untested right now
Cool Forge

You sir, are going to bring forging back.
If you haven't done so, I'd suggest a visit to the patent office in Canada, and perhaps ring up the same in the United States.
with some proper marketing, your going to make a boat load of money..

@jdouglasfisher I doubt you could patent a forge. it doesn't do anything a regular forge can do other than not break your back and wallet!!
modernblacksmith 5 months ago
@modernblacksmith your not patenting the idea of the forge, but rather its unique design. YOUR PATENTING THE DESIGN.
