Being from the United States I wanted my country's team to do well. But really, diving ruins this sport for me. Soccer used to be one of my favorite sports when I played it, but trying to watch it is just impossible. Yes, every sport has people who break/ bend the rules, or officials that do not heavily enforce everything, but this just KILLS the game. The Ghana team member who jumped up off of the stretcher? Every coach I've ever had would throw you off the team for that crap.

Ghana dominated the game and there top two players in the tournament Gyan and Boateng were better than anyone on the US. There is a reason why most of the Ghanian players play in the best leagues in Europe. USA are only good for organization and usually good goalkeeping. Ghana are way faster and way more skillful on the ball.

If it was all about the EPL, England shouldn't have lost to Germany that badly. English soccer is fun to watch because of money and the players, but little talent is there.

@FavreianVengeance what will be the difference? I think the cocky American attitude that they are somehow better than Ghana really hurt the USA in this game. Ghana dominated the game and there top two players in the tournament Gyan and Boateng were better than anyone on the US. There is a reason why most of the Ghanian players play in the best leagues in Europe. USA are only good for organization and usually good goalkeeping. Ghana are way faster and way more skillful on the ball.

You're the one with the cocky attitude. If you knew anything about soccer, you'd know that America was ranked 5th going into the 06 WC that Ghana won and they were favored to beat Ghana the 2nd time. As for dominating the game, I don't know what game you were watching. The US had more chances and Ghana scored the winning goal in extra time. Tim Howard (GK) had a sub par game and it was a silly turnover by an ill-advised substitute that gave Ghana the lead the first time.

Maybe 3 if u count Howard. You didn't show 1 argument of how USA>Ghana. All u said was there is no way they would lose 3 times in a row. It's rare for teams to meet in elimination games in two straight world cups. IF USA was good they would have beaten them already.

But I do know that only a handful of ghanans are having an impact on club sports so I don't really get your point. And we have a good many good players like Donovan staying to play MLS. The USA is good and we blew our games against Ghana; hence why I said we'd beat them the third time. Apparently you don't know the damn meaning of the word 'upset.'

@FavreianVengeance dude you have got it all wrong. Gyan plays for Sunderland, and so does Mensah. Essien plays for Chelsea, Painstil plays for Fulham, alongside Dempsey. BUT, the EPL is not where it is all happening. Serie A also does well, Kevin Prince plays for Milan, and they are thinking of signing Kwadwo Asamoah. If it was all about the EPL, England shouldn't have lost to Germany that badly. English soccer is fun to watch because of money and the players, but little talent is there.

@FavreianVengeance besides, if USA wanted to beat us they would have done so. Ghana played with a lot of heart, Bradley had the USA team playing a strategic formation. That only works with a team with little talent - not with good guys like Bocanegra, Bradley jnr and Altidore. He needs to have eight players in formation and three roaming, like Messi and Rooney do while playing.

It amazes how arrogant Americans can be to believe they produce better talent than Ghana. The team was without its best player Michael Essien and should have made it to the semi-finals at the very least. The Suarez handball was an unfortunate for them. Better luck next time USA. Hopefully, US fans will stop underestimating certain teams.

Ghana isn't better than the US though. I said they matched up well with us though. I also never under-estimated Ghana. It's not like I was completely shocked when we lost to them either time. But that doesn't mean they were better. It means they caught us on the right day and we'll be ready for them next time. I mean even if you look at the last game, we actually had more scoring chances. And if you want to bring up not havng a best player the US were w/o their best Charlie Davies.

The US have been knocked out of the WC twice by Ghana, they have a decent team, and the potential to be a very good team with the right leadership,but to say as they are right now. better than the Ghanian squad is just...wrong.
Just take a look the Ghana's squad, Essien,boateng, Gyan are all top class players. In my opinion,their best player, Andrew Ayew is better than any player the US can field right now.

Spain and numersous other world cup teams all recruit inner city players and they are all for the most part very fast players, and look how good those teams are liek the Netherlands and brazil, I agree we need to hire a coach like that but if those are the typ of players he should be aiming at end of story, it worked for all thoe other great world cup teams so it would work for us too. Most inner city players in any sport are fast that's a fact.

Why does everyone say the U.S. sucks at international soccer, and others that Ghana sucks for winning? I thought this world cup was to bring together many different countries to unite and have a good time, not to scold the teams, or be criticizing. Anyways just because the U.S. isn't as good at soccer like the rest of the world doesn't mean shit. Isn't there just as many games that we play within ourselves that could make us #1 vs other countries like American Football, baseball, etc.?

Iran played the USA in a world cup some time ago, can't remember, but I saw the entire match: they played a hell of a game, and the celebration was massive there: they felt as if they had won the world cup, as beating USA is just as good. here..........is a perfect example....of the passion for sport..nay the life of these players..what a game. iwasnt even rooting for neither team..i love the game so much i woke up early just to watch it..from my living room..and may i say..i was amazed at the heart that all the players put out on the field..imagine how the people in the stands standing only feet from the grass must have felt watching it live. brasil 2014..my first world cup=)

@ADAJ3 yeah my friend from school had a party for that game, everyone except him and I were for Ghana, then the Mexico-USA game. an arguement occured on facebook, My Ignorant American friends telling me "you live in the USA then you go for the USA" "go back to Mexico" "why do you go for them anyway, they suck" one said "they could even make it out of the group stage" well the USA was with Slovenia, and Algeria? of course they'll advance. and sadly most of them have no loyalty to the USA anyways

Hell they almost beat Diego Forlan and Uruguay. The US may have perfected basketball, football, and baseball, but we are definitely not anywhere near the top when it comes to soccer.

Wanna know why Brazilians are so great? Because it's the usual thing for them to be out in the yard just kicking a ball around. Here in the USA, the equivalent to that is throwing a football around or shooting baskets. It takes lots and lots of years for a country to develop in terms of football.
