More of a enhanced speed rail rather high speedrail like Asia but cchina crashed their supposed suppieror train so black africans can laugh back at them for making fun of africa's slower speed.
How crazy is it that we have Bombardier who is responsible for making some of the most innovative equipment in the field of transportation, and yet we fail to utilise it here in Canada?
To me, it seems like we wait for the Americans to make a move before we make it. For example, in high speed rail, I haven't heard anything in Canada about it, but slowly, it is becoming louder as America starts advocating for high speed rail for its own Amtrak system. We should do something instead of sitting.
Finally a good video of this! Canada doesn't have it because it was built in Derby, England. There based of the number of different 'Electrostar' trains that Bombardier built and keep building for the UK. Also 100mph is not high speed.
@simpletimes222... just note that this is a commuter system, i.e. towns, cities and airport which are not more than 50KM apart. therefore it is impractical to to aim for high speed system. having said that we are about to start with a feasibility study for a +500km systems of which obviously would be in a region of +350km/h.
@simpletimes222 That is the reality of it. For South Africans anything above 120km/h is high speed. ;o) That is our maximum road speed limit. This train is however long overdue and I cannot wait for the Johannesburg to Durban speed rail to begin and complete building. As somebody mentioned somewhere, it is currently in feasability phase.
