In addition to my earlier comment I have to add that Robeson was also very critical of Stalin's policies towards Jews..and perhaps only threw in his lot with the communists in America because they offered resistance to racism across the west.
Paul Robeson if alive today, would be singing for the Occupy Wall Street movement. He like many others on the left had too much faith in the USSR..yet what had capitalist America done for black people?plus like other western USSR supporters he would have not known the scope and savagery of Stalinist brutality.Beautiful voice..it is a tragic truth that great suffering often produces great art..
"What had capitalist America done for black people?"
First of all I didn't capitalize black for what should be obvious to most.
The so-called first lady said some time back that she loved our country but despised our flag because it was a sign of oppression.
How about the tens of thousands of Americans that died under that "sign of oppression" to free her ancestors rears so they could become freeloaders and ingrates on the nation that freed them from bondage?
very beautiful and relaxing music, it's sung in a special way.I experienced great feelings when listeniing to its simple and beautiful themes. thanks my dear friend.
@rohanwirasekara you are aware that it is just another first world industrial country, not heaven on earth? just asking.
if you followed the news the last... dunno, fifty, sixty-something years, you'd know that western countries are about money and their own benefit, and that politics are strongly influenced by big companies, not ideals.

A great country such as USA, to treat a great artist like that was a shame. I am sure that this would not happen again. Not in USA !

Škoda, že tak úžasný zpěvák už v dnešní generaci nemá víc posluchačů- je to překrásný hlas.
