Tugboats? We did STS without any tugboats. We just matched our speed at deadslow and slowly narrowed in on each other. It happened with a 183meter and a 260meter ship. I will never forget being an helmsman standing and steering for five hours straight when the pilot adjusted the pitch almost constantly.
I really enjoy working onboard ships and now im a 3.officer onboard a similar ship (Chemical tankers) that I was a OS and then an AB. If you are getting in to the business i would wish you good luck as its a very rewarding job, but it can also be quite boring being a rating after a while. If youre a nautical graduate i guess you know that the rudder isnt so effective when the pitch is close so zero so i had to adjust all the time.. But , when i look back it was a great experience
@travelguy78 I've got a seat for nautical studies in malaysian maritime academy, joining the academy late this may.. it is rewarding, learned alot from my uncle, he too is a seafarer, kind of following his footstep actually..
naalala ko tuloy nung nasa barko pa ako nasa shell tanker din ako dati.ganyan ang ginagawa namin sa pagatraka ng barko. naalala ko tuloy mga kasamahan ko sa shell tanker neverita.
How are the tugs assisting this maneouver? Are they pushing the ship from starboard?
