the most imporant thing about IA is that he doesn´t use any effects at all except a Crybaby. its just the guitar straight in to the Laney and that's it
of course, I know that, I mean that he doesn't have any effects except for the wahwah on the stage or on records, for excample, have you heard samba caramba on his latest record? there he uses a wahwah in the main riff thingy where he has the guitar in the knee.
Most important thing.Wow you've drunk some of the Ia kool-aid too.Guitars and tones are just tools to express one's self,maybe he should just play acoustic guitar as we wouldn't want that pesky electricity getting in the way of tone would we?.Personally it wouldn't matter what ia effected himself with.He's friggin' boring no matter what.
nope, most interesting guitarist i've heard, sure shawn was a genius, but he didn't do as much fun stuff as IA, and IA is a fucking laugh between the songs as well. as for zoltan, I can agree that jonas's previous drummers sure were something else...
Well I nominate you for swede tin ear of the year.Heard some tracks from the Art Doofus Abomination.You can't even mention Ia in the same sentence as Shawn Lane.Granted you euros don't get humor,so I can understand why you'd think Ia's "used car salesman" schtick is funny,NOT.Fuckin' Ia fanboys probably never heard of Hellborg until yer camp buddy fouled himself tryin' to play w/ a real musician.
well actually I heard of hellborg years before IA, and I wasn't to thrilled about IA's freak kitchen, when I first heard it, but when I saw them live together it was great. and jonas is just as much swede as IA for that matter. and I think IA is a lot more fun in swedish, it's a lot easier to make jokes in ones own language. and I reckon you haven't heard IA's solo albums? I haven't heard Shawns solo stuff anyways, so I don't know, but I like the stuff IA does with jonas more than Shawns
2in10s4U: You don´t know what you are talking about. Tone is just a matter of taste. So you saw HLS live, that is great. But i'll bet that you didn't see these guys live. These guys can play anything. They play what they choose to play. It's not suppose to sound like HLS. This is a different band, ok? Don't get me wrong, i'm a big Lane fan, but Eklundh is right up there with Lane.
Sorry,saw this outfit live @ Wetzlar.They were mediocre.I've seen Jonas lots live.Funny ass shit was Jonas noticing that I saw the blown changes and screwy tempos,to put it politely.If you really think this current band is on any level comparable to the sublime musical mastery that was HLS then I can't help you w/ your tin ears.You guys are just gettin' puffed up because of the Swede thing.You need to learn how to listen before you say anything...
Don't underate Eklundh he does exactly know what he's doing. And if they are not able to play the hls songs it's not his fault. He's a absolute monster when it comes to odd meters or polyrhythms. And i want to remind you,that the drummer is pretty young( about 24 or so)
I really like Mattias' playing but I think his tone and style for playing these Hellborg compositions is all wrong. His tone is way too dry and distorted and doesn't mix well with the fusion style that they're playing. IMO.

Well,you never saw HLS live then,this band has nowhere near the skill,maturity or capability to even get there.The drum solo is so weak.The guy supposedly ain't even on the forthcoming cd.The Johannsen bros are on it!And don't even get me going on the guitar sound.Worst thing is that this band CAN'T play the HLS stuff and what I've heard that's new is uninspiring to say the least.Never thought I'd see Jonas' music reduced to playing behind BAD guitar magazine flavor of the week players.

Yeah, but the only effects pedal here is a crybaby. With freak kitchen he has some other pedals like delay and overdrive.
