i would like to see farmers humanely treat the animals. not free roaming but at least enough area and space for needs so i am so glad u are building a hutch. i have a pet rabbit. never had one before and about to build a condo for it for my kid. i never knew so many ppl had rabbits and treat them inhumanely. glad u rescued these.
I agree although they are the largest ones I could locate.
However I have gotten rid of that breed and will focus on building a rabbit hutch and using the cages for a much smaller/compact 'meat' breed of rabbit in the very near future.
They could be Flemishes. They're certainly large enough. I did't get a litter...not from a lack of trying. I put the male with both females but no luck. The male was in bad shap (in my oppinion) and probably needed time to get healthy. I want to 'process' them for the freezer but I am having a VERY HARD TIME bringing myself to do it. Any ideas? A very quick and human way?
@lucasthedogman I sure did. But the male was in bad shape. Actually they are going to be "prepared" tomorrow for the freezer. I'm starting over with smaller breeds.
@MushroomPatch oh ya, are those flemish giants? they dont really make the best meat rabbits because they are so big boned... so are you going to try like new zealands or californian and if you are looking for smaller check out the florida white... anywyas good luck
Looks like flemishes? Did you get any liters yet? If you need any advice or have any advice on anything to do with raising rabbits I would love to hear or help.
Can we get a rabbit update .....
