As a referee, the official was in the right place and did his job the way he was supposed to. Its very easy to blame a referee for doing his job. He was in the correct position and it looked like he was trying to get out of the way. I am also an umpire which is positioned in the defensive backfield. You are constantly watching out so you dont get hit

@ranger082469 I agree with you, our jobs sometimes put us in the way. However, the U could have got to the line of scrimmage a bit faster. I know the NFL works 7 man and I will admit that I do not know 7 man mechanics, however in 5 man mechanics, the U gets to the LOS on a pass. 1. to cover for "illegal forward passes" and 2. to get a better angle when he has to turn and cover to rule on complete/incomplete passes.
