I have a strange story about this song. On Aug 3rd my mother in law passed away. Legally she was never really my mother in law, I had lived with her son and we had two daughters together. Her son and I split years ago, but she and I had a strong connection. Two day after she passed , I was looking for the song 'I'll be on my way", but when I looked for it this was the first song on the list. I had never heard it before. It has not appeared since, unless I type it in. Now I listen everyday.
When Paul passes away, this song will be playing when john and paul meet again in heaven. i bet they will hug it out and cry, and then john would make a sarcastic remark. lol

I can't find a copy of this song anywhere.... I can't get enough of it. Love love love it. I listen to it every single day. I wonder if Paul listens or thinks of it anymore. It is a complete tear jerker and tugs at the heart in a way that no other song has. Their obvious friendship was so obvious on stage and that is why we can't forget them or let them go. @syleriam No, it's totally true. The only reason we know about it is because Carl Perkins talked about it during an interview for a 1997 documentary. As he was telling this story, & singing the song, Paul McCartney just happened to call the studio. Perkins was amazed, turned to the camera & said "You tell me this boy has not got a connection to the spirit world!” Spooky!

Paul and Linda showed up outside their door singing Christmas carols, both Paul and Yoko have referred to that and of course Paul and John jammed together during John's "Rock and Roll" sessions from which tapes exsist. It's always tempting to fabricate a pleasent ending but it never happened.

They talked about family and John wanting to get back into the music business.

Although you had posted this video a year ago, I just discovered this. I read your story about Carl Perkins with Paul & Linda McCartney. I also read the lyrics then I felt a totally emotional. I never got over the death of John Lennon and I still feel anguish of the circumstances surronding his death. I still miss him! The thing is Paul knew him best because they were mates ever since they were teenagers in Liverpool.
I was born on October 10! He is also my favourite Beatle, if not my favourite person. John is my hero and he inspired me incredibly. I wasn't even born when he died, but he still managed to touch my heart :)

Tomorrow there will be anniversary...of John*s death. Dear fans!
Let us pray and forget all bad.
We all love Beatles. Let love them as an entity-not love only Paul OR John OR George, OR Ringo but love Beatles-Paul AND John AND George AND Ringo!
People loved Beatles earlier as entity. But after their breakup when each of them chose his own way somebody liked more John, other ppl-Paul etc.....

Right on, katrin2801! War is over if you want it - on any level. All you Beatle fans should stop fighting about who's the greatest and just be grateful for all the great music they have made, both as a group and in their solo years.

I've now learnt to play this on guitar, and I actually get quite choked up when singing it - because I have in my head the whole time the story of the song, and the friendship of the 2 beautiful men behind it.

Although you had posted this video a year ago, I just discovered this. I read your story about Carl Perkins with Paul & Linda McCartney. I also read the lyrics then I felt a totally emotional. I never got over the death of John Lennon and I still feel anguish of the circumstances surronding his death. I still miss him! The thing is Paul knew him best because they were mates ever since they were teenagers in Liverpool.

I was born on October 10! He is also my favourite Beatle, if not my favourite person. John is my hero and he inspired me incredibly. I wasn't even born when he died, but he still managed to touch my heart :)
