  • another name for this is corner throw as the direction is not the same as with tomoe nage (stomach throw so to preform it a foot must be on the stomach front side all tomo) the difference with this is the direction that you drop and the foot is placed on the inner thigh oh btw i love the yoko never seen that b4 with have to use it in sparring !! thanks for the post

  • @boris999222666 sure. Keep training my friend

  • sumi gaeshi is an awesome technique to use as long as you get the opponent's balance off

  • @stoprainlty True!

  • so its kind of like a suicide roll

  • @JUDOWESTERNAUSTRALIA yoko tomoe nage

  • Looks like a butterfly-hook tomoenage to the side.

  • looks like tomoe nage

  • @Obsidian1392 tomoe nage requires planting the foot on the opponent's stomach. Sumi Gaeshi uses the foot differently.

  • @ninjalla ah, I've been shown tomoe nage with the foot on the leg. I think my school might be a bit dodgy lol

    Cheers

  • @ninjalla

It's used a hook, like in butter fly guard and the throw in more sideways rather than straight over the head.

  • @Obsidian1392 Similar, but not the same. The best thing to do, as in the first throw, is to bait your opponent with your lapel grip, grab the wrist, and control the shoulders with an overhook. stay square, and step in with the left, then ride that right foot up inside the leg and throw over. Notice his kuzushi on the throw as well and see where he is taking Uki.

  • @Obsidian1392 AND YOKO TOMOE NAGE TOO.....BUT THE THREE ARE FROM SUTEMI WAZA

  • @Obsidian1392 tomoe nage foot and head are at the same side as u go down, in this they are on opposite sides

  • my combination could be: Ouchigari - Kouchigari - seoi nage = Ippon Ippon!

  • As this is a part of our documentation project, the Akban-wiki, we were interested here only in videoing the most basic features of this technique.

I'll post it to you other comments.

    Thanks

  • if you are attacking ukes Left leg, take him so the he can ukemi over his Right shoulder. the body gets drawn down at the front shoulder, but gets lifted at the opposite rear leg.

    Thanks

  • WAS sumi gaeshi

  • Indeed it was, there are many ways of executing the technique.

  • Sorry, it really wasn't. It's tomoe nage. Your foot is on his belly.

I don't think the first throw is sumi either.

  • Ahh. I see. My bad then. :P

  • thas judo not ninjitsu

  • Right, that's Judo. That's what we do. We also write in English, Japanese and several other langueges.

  • this is my combination kouchi gari/sumi gaeshi/uchi mata = IPPON!!

  • hmmm, you should really probably go kouchi gai/uchi mata/ sumi gaeshi, then again i just go kouchi to uchimata, but if you want to be a pro, drop morote is AWSOEEMMMM

  • This video is helping me right now to study for a brown belt, 1 kyu, in Judo.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • Sure, this is just one technique from our 'martial arts documentation project' in the Akban-wiki, glad we can help. Keep training.
