I'm a bigger fan of Beck but Gilmour does the melody more justice than Beck on this tune, the squeals just don't cut it here. Jerusalem isn't the kind of melody that they work well in.
Dave Gilmour said, (and this is a direct quote), of Jeff Beck- "The most consistently brilliant guitarist over the past twenty-five years", and said that over ten years ago, and I'll bet still feels the same way! Dave and Jeff are good friends, and I hope they make an album together someday, which would probably also mean a tour!
fucking phenomenal! although dave is the better guitarist! Best ever! Thanks dad for raising me on such great music. I'm passing it on to Matthew....he will forever love and adore Gilmour too. (not in quite the same way i do though!)
@AquteRN I bet Jeff could do any thing Gilmour does - it's all traditional stuff, but there's no one out there, who can play like Jeff - his style is totally unique - and quit this ... is better than shit
Music and guitar playing in essence is not about competition...David and Jeff have there own style of playing. I admire both of them...classic guitar players in their own right.

No, the guitar work on that is all David. Nick Mason refers to Jeff Beck in his book "Inside Out" saying they thought of asking Jeff to join PF when Syd was freaking out but were too scared. He then says it took Roger 20 years to asking Jeff to work with him but he finally got round to it.

Beck is one year older than Gilmour and seems like a lot younger. I think Dave is a bit worn : look at these little failing notes and phrases.
None of these errors would have happened when he was young (except under drug influence).
And all of you have to recognize :
Jeff Beck is one of the best guitar players of all times and far over Gilmour, Slash or Jimmy Page.
If you don't believe me, just check out some versions of "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" or anything else he did.
But Gilmour is great
