  • BOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!

  • new type of nuke lol

  • sparklers also work for igniting thermite

  • That was...*puts on glasses* hot. YEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

  • the ratio of thermite is 3 grams aluminum powder to 8 grams iron oxide for an explosive thermite use copper oxcide and to ignite use sparklers magnesium strip or use a blowtorch just dont blowtorch the copper thermite it will kill you

  • Pyros.. eat your hearts out

  • Nothing quite like a thermite-induced, propane-fueled explosion to wake you up in the morning!

  • They are always polluting the air=.=

  • neat

  • a pure black cloud of pollution wow

  • M3F

  • M3F

  • BSA makes school science a lot nicer to learn.

  • hamster! and yeah this pretty much explains wtc tower collapses

  • @ultimatrum Cause it's fun.

  • We made thermite in a chemistry lesson...

  • @DruidTC WE made this experiment in the lesson yesterday xD NO LIE!

  • AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • Damn i love science...

  • I wish this show came back to American TV.

  • but why " VS ",,,these two burn

  • @ultimatrum Yeah, they should be working together... to take on the human race... :O

  • i will (never) try this!

  • Thats a superb experiment, though a little on the lunatic side. One thing that put my mind at ease was when the propane cyclinder burst and burnt it was evident they used an almost empty cyclinder.A full cyclinder of liquid propane of the 13kg size,as used here, would have made a devastating explosion sending shrapnel everywhere not just a "Whoosh" fireball. The blast from a full cyclinder would be enourmous,I wonder if anyones done it?

  • i love thermite

  • Don't try this at home.

    Okay, i'll try it outside.

  • awwww what every happen to this show ?~?~

  • Sadly this is a little faked, in truth there was not any gas in the tank, the pyrotechnics were under it. if that had been a full or even partially full tank the explosion would have been much more energetic and unpredictable. if you look at the video you will see the explosions coming out from either side under the tank. There is the question however if anything would actually happen, the tank is curved and could allow the thermite to roll off the sides. since we never actually see the hole

  • @thundolis I'm glad someone else also noted that the fireball produced was nothing like what would happen had the propane cyclinder been full of liquid propane. If the thermite penetrated a full tank the explosion would have been extremely violent sending shrapnel everywhere.I have seen propane cyclinders in building fires detonate and they explode with an tremendous explosion. When the cyclinders are connected to a regulator the safety valve is unable to vent and they detonate.

  • it's not funny to burn thermite without actually poking the boiling iron with a stick.. which means that even though people think that it's 2500C its not.. since it's boiling iron, quite vigorously, it's at least 3200C

  • im fair sure propane burns clear thermite burn gray/white so someone tell my why theres black smoke

  • Hammond sucks

  • METAL MUNCHING GLORY!

  • cool, now do one with thermite and my obsessive ex-girfriend

  • even if the thermite would burn at less than 1500 degrees the gas will explode because it will expand and the gas can will pop.

that's why deodorant explodes when you trow it in a fire.

  • i know what im doing next 4th of july

  • and i thought thermite and ice was bad...

    LOL

  • Its safer and healthier than cooking Meth!

  • I think it would be a great idea for everyone to try this at home, looks pretty safe to me.

  • Holy shit, Hank is gonna come to your house and fuck your shit up for wasting his propane

  • "A blazing white shower of metal munching glory... from my penis."

  • the hamster!!!

  • OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! THAT WAS SO AWESOME!!

  • That...WAS.......AWSOME!!!!!!

  • This is awesome! Man I wish I had access to explosives... I would have so much fun!

  • @batencho u can make home-made explosives is very easy and cheap

  • cool im going to try this at home...

  • Do they have an official youtube channel? Cause these seem to be ripped videos.

    Good show! BOOM!

  • Hank Hill would never approve of this.

  • @Einojuhani lmfao

  • Gee don't show this to that Master Degree Wanna be terrorist --oh no M-88s now everybody that tells you the honest truth about 9/11 remember the place where FBI stole all that gold and Rumsfeld and Cheney and of course BUSH

  • now 2 full gas cylinders

  • shit video quality..

  • i think the thermite won

  • effin' right!

  • You can get pure aluminum powder in a Etch-E-Sketch...

  • @bennytyty Both powders are easily gotten in a metalworking shop. Just put a bucket under the grinder and grind aluminium and iron (though you're more likely to have steel). Then just put some concentrated acid on the iron to oxidize it. Dry it out, mix it together (though I don't know the ratio), put in a magnesium strip. Find a way to burn magnesium from a distance, and do so. Boom.

  • I love British humor, I just cant stop laughing when i hear phrases like "can it resist the awesome power of thermite"

    that stuff is pretty cool,

can anyone explain it a little better?

    ..

how do they get their hands on that, not that i want to "wayyy to dangerous"

  • mix iron oxyde and aluminium powder for a ratio of 2/1 and there you go, you've got thermite. To ignite it, take some magnesium, or a sparkler.

  • iron oxyde... isnt that just rust. aluminium powder, thats what they use is 2nd phase rocket boosters. dont know where you could buy that

  • yes, iron oxyde is indeed rust ;)

about aluminium powder... I don't know either, even more since I live in France ;)

I think you could make some. (buy a chunk of Al and drill it :P )

  • no, it's not rust. rust is iron hydroxide. The oxide for thermite is Fe2O3.

  • @vmelkon actually its iron oxide.

  • @vmelkon wtf????!!!!! do you have any idea of what you just said ?

  • @vmelkon no the chemical name for rust is iron oxide because the iron reacs with the oxygen in the air or in water which is why it rusts. it doesn't only rust in water you know it does rust in the air but not as fast

  • @survivalkid2452 yes, iron does oxidize in dry air just like other transition metals like nickel and chromium but iron oxide is a dark brown color. The orange stuff that forms with contact with water is Fe(OH)2. It seems people call both of them rust but they aren't the same compound.

  • they can make it pretty easily, or for welding sometimes... like on railroad tracks is how it is used.

  • the ironoxide and aluminium basically fight for the oxygen, that's why it's so hot :) aluminium wins the fight so you end up with aluminiumoxide and elemental iron :)

  • thats pretty darn cool

  • remember kids dont let dangerously hot thermite next to propane tanks.....unless you want to have fun

  • global warming!

  • Fake McFakersons!

Famous scientist Rosie O'Donnell told me that fire can't melt steel.

  • She said fire can't MELT steel, however, fire can very much bend it, allowing the thermite to get through into the propane.

  • @appa609 Liquid Iron is Molten Iron Molten steel is a alloy the Iron melts at 700 or so degrees, But thermite 2000, because of its self oxidization

  • if you watch a few of the vids with thermite in it they do the exact same thing (down to how they are sitting/standing/crouching) when they light the touch paper, put the thermite into the pot etc. I think they cheat a bit and use old footage

  • um............... great explosion

  • "...Which will ignite and burn at two and a half thousand degrees, celcius. which is very hot"

xD that comment made me roflmfao

  • o and diamonds can withstand 3550 degrees celsuis

  • lol not really diamonds will burn at 800 celsius

  • you can burn it at temperatures much lower than that in a highly oxidizing environment, i know its cheating, but its still fun, ive burned a diamond by heating it with a blow torch and the dropping it in liquid oxygen

  • @Zerberus yeah, but Thermite burns at 2500 celsius... so enough could do it.

  • has anyone tried putting a block of ice underneath thermite and igniting it?

if you do stand well back because it will explode!!!

  • they did with it liquid nitrogen. You can see that here on youtube,

  • well, thermite vs any metal the thermite would still win, even against diamond ( i think)

  • yes it would, because diamonds is made of coal and coal is flammable

  • no, diamond uses covalent network bonding where the carbons are arranged in tetrahedral shapes. diamond is different to graphite(carbon, used in pencils) and coal, because of this structure...... it's like strong quartz

  • yes, it's hard, very hard, but still flammable, people have burned diamonds

  • Tungsten can withstand up to 3500 degrees so it can withstand the heat but i think thats the only metal that can withstand the heat

  • depending in the mixture, the heat of thermite varies between 2000-4000 degrees celsius

  • Brainiac features hthis old song which goes fire nanana fire nanana nananana can some 1 tell me what that song called? cheeers

  • richard hammond* i was thinking of the getaway

  • Yeah.... He was in all of the original episodes of brainiac... You must be pretty unobservant.

  • duh...?

  • Try microwaving nitrate film or burning a reel or length of nitrate film with thermite!

  • What's nitrate film?

  • it's a film, used in cinemas or photo cameras (old ones)

  • im making some

  • im making some lol

  • I don't understand where they got the idea that Heaven wasn't fiery.

  • DAMN!!!

  • i want some!

  • mix aluminin powder and rust

  • nice explosion :)

  • Now do it with a full gas cylinder.

  • *poff*

  • @trentspencerktm Yeah, I like to try that.. :D

  • I will NEVER try this !!!

  • You are smart. This is very very dangerous.. :)

  • @Kuwaiti55 uhhh i will... i ordered some thermite and im definitely trying this lol

  • @BoomzNshhh There is no retry in this game, take care.

  • @Kuwaiti55 trust me, im a ninja!

  • @Kuwaiti55 ...much.

  • i can do science me looooooool!!!

  • cool
